| A school's philosophy of education is something that constantly changes. A philosophy also evolves over a period of time. From these descriptions, it is understandable that a school and its faculty find it hard to put something on paper that is constantly changing. The educational philosophy that we believe in at Muskateer's Academy consist of what our values are right now as a group of educators. In the western world, there are four prodominant sets of beliefs or assumptions about the nature of human beings. At Muskateer's Academy our school is a host of all these theoretical beliefs: (a) humanism, (b) behaviorism, (c) psychoanalytic thought, (d) interactionism other educational facilities may lean towards one view more than another, but at the school of The Three Muskateer's we utilize each view to deal with complexities or our institution of higher learning. (a) humanism: A comtemporary position presupposes that humans are born good or with a natural inclination towards positive behaviors and they must learn or acquire nageative behaviors in order to exhibit negative behaviors. (b) behaviorism: The presupposition that humans are born with no predisposition toward positive and negative behaviors. What human beings become is a direct result of their enviroment and their biology. (c) psychoanalytic thought: The presupposition that human beings are born with a natural inclination the serve there own needs to the utter disregard if the needs of others. The attributes if these belief come to life when adults particularly, parents, assist their children in developing an adequate seonse of self and a social conscience. (d) interactionism: The presupposition that human beings are born with their own inherent potential for good and for bad verses being born a blank slate or like a machine that contributes nothing to theis own development. As an institution of higher learning, we want to be innovative and bring exciting, new ideas to the school. More than anything, we want to be a school that is constantly updating the curriculum and its pupil as well. Engaging our faculty and students in higher order thinking, committing them to achieve excellence and professionalism in all aspects of their work is an essential part of this school's philosophy. Muskateer's Academy approves of its students to explore there educational options own their own terms. This progressive active of thinking is what we feel is an effective tool here at Muskateer's Academy. In order for a student to have complete understanding of something we believe that they must explore themselves and solve the problems with guidance. In addition, we believe that our faculty and students should lead the class in a democratic way allowing each certain freedom and choices. In situation, we are not forcing the teaching nor the student into a curriculum that they both may find it hard to accept. By giving the faculty and staff the authority in learning, our tasks as the school (administrators) will become that as guide. In showing our faculty and students that we are able to trust them to make choices in their education, we believe they will be more receptive to ideas that will be challenge to explore. Overall, this progressive attitude is the most prominent educational philosophy in shaping our ideals. We want our administrators, educators, staff and students to welcome change and always be effective in all their endeavors. Moreover, discipline, motivation, theoretical beliefs or an inviting school atmosphere are issues that educator must focus attention and which must not be disregarded. The objective for Muskateer's Academy is that learning is natural for all people of all ages. Therefore, our youth can be inspired to learn. As as institution of higher learning entering the 21st century, it is our main objective that our practices evolve around the students. |
