Interesting facts I noticed while watching the show.
Ward Cleaver Jr. (Hugh Beaumont) - His full name was revealed on his library card. One of his relatives sold whiskey to the Indians which led them to also buying guns. He claims the Cleavers are related to the Appleseeds. He was born around 1919 as he said Charles Lindbergh's famous flight was when he was in the 4th grade which was 1927. His grandmother had a pump sink and he told all the kids his dad piloted the Graf Zeppelin until it crashed. When his parents put him to bed they gave him tonic and he used to suck his thumb. He grew up on a farm in Shaker Heights with 2 sisters Helen & Mildred, his younger brother Billy and older brother who is trouble, though as an adult Billy is described as trouble. He also lived in Fairbanks (though later Beaver says he lived in Mayfield his whole life and was born there), hunted with his dad and road horses. He and a brother once has a prized hog in a 4H show. He wore dirty pants to school because that was the style and his mom washed them and ruined him and also had whistling knickers. He would spend all day after school and weekends fishing with his brother. He had a bully that he hid from until he beat him up. Once he was embarrassed for wearing a turtleneck sweater to a friends house. He signed his baseball glove Hartman, but spelled it wrong. He went to scout camp every summer and got badges, ivy and sang Juanita. He was a sea scout on a Navy cutter that didn't move. He and Chuck Tolifson once slept in a tree and became popular in school were they had to wear shirts & ties. In junior high he came in second in the hop, skip & jump and was in the play Ivanhoe, Mr. Kilmore was his math teacher. His dad gave him a pedometer and he used it to measure the distance to the icehouse. He told Beaver he walked 20 miles a day, 10 miles to school alone, but it was a lie. He sold matches in the snow on Christmas Eve once. His sister used to bounce a rock off his head which once gave him 5 stitches even though they had a friendship pact. As a kid he never got the chickenpox saw Dracula 4 times and shot rats with Pee Wee Larson with his .225 at the dump. He would pretend his dad was the Prince of Wales. He strained gas through a sock to fill an outboard motor. Once in a play he was a hula girl. He has an Uncle Harry who gave them a book as a 10th anniversary present. He once got scammed into buying a $2 tin whistle at a fair that was supposed to make many noises. He thinks he had it rough having to get up at dawn to milk the cows and work in the barn. But it was a modern farm with milking machines, he just had to turn them on. When he was bad his dad took him out to the toolshed, just the sight of it put fear into him. HE also says 9 times out of 10 his dad gave him the belt. He also broke the key off in the ignition of his dad's car and got the strap. He got in trouble in the fifth grade for pulling a girls' hair. He was in the 4H club and once entered a hog in a competition. He would play swords and used a metal garbage can as a shield as a kid. The first girl he liked was Loretta Misch. He also dated Elanor Christoff whose dad owned a paint store and Maude Hagerman who was a wet blanket he took to a college dance only because she was friends with his mom. He wanted his dad to be a test pilot. He met June in college when he was president of his fraternity, Alpha Kappa, one of the top 2 at the State College. He worked his way through school, played football as a second string halfback and once fumbled the ball on the 1 yard line. He played a half season of baseball and once had a car that when you slammed the door the light came on. He talked to June's dad about basketball. In World War II he was an engineer in the Seabees the Construction Battalions of the Navy building landing strips in the Pacific and wore a beard since there were no women for 2000 miles. He crossed the South Pacific in a navy transport, didn't kill anyone, the only thing he shot was 4 target balloons in practice, he just made sure the ground was level. He posed for a picture then in a tutu and admits he wasn't a hero. He was already involved with June at the time because he had pictures of her in his footlocker. His parents died around this time and his mom said June would do him good. One neighbor is Harry Donaldson who has a prized cat named Puff Puff, a dog and Ward once rented a power mower to mow their lawn when Beaver was supposed to mow it. Chandler and Mr. Mcgregor, Mrs. Murdoch & son Charlie are other neighbors. He likes liverwurst and an old friend of his is Mr. Michaels the grocer. He likes to play golf and his club allows no women or children on Saturdays and once had a meeting to not allow women in the dining hall or course on Tuesday. He is happy to play 9 holes when he doesn't have the time for 18. He also hunt ducks in his spare time. Their bank is the People's Security & Trust Bank in one episode and Citizen's Trust & Savings Bank in another. His job pays well, but he is not a lawyer. George Compton is his lawyer. In fact it's never said exactly what his job was except that he has a corner office, works with Lumpy's dad Fred Rutherford who he doesn't really like and thinks is childish, Paul Miller, Charlie Hennesy (whose son was on the Detroit Lions) and Janice who was pretty so June didn't like her. Grace was his secretary and on every other Thursday they had business luncheons. It's not a mom & pop operation a couple of times they had to work on the weekend on reports sent from the home office in New York and they have a media department. They once had a business conference out of town so the wives could meet. If he doesn't have coffee at the office they think he's a spy. One Saturday he had to fill out a questionnaire about women's shopping habits and another time it was about the pulse of the woman shopper, so it sounds like he works in the corporate office of a department store chain. Since he was an engineer in the war, you might think he would be one, but never has any equipment at home and never brings home anything bigger than papers. He does know how to type so that could have something to do with contracts. When Wally went to the all night graduation party Mr. Gregory was an engineer and Wally was curious about what he did. If his dad was also one, he wouldn't be so interested. He does all the bills at home, so he could be an accountant. His company did advertise in the local paper and he keeps an extra tie at work in case of spills. He came home early from work once and the neighbor's thought he got fired. He mentions the dance pavilion fire he watched when he was younger. He's lived in the area many years and remembers Mrs. Cooper's house was the first to have electricity and everyone in town came to see the porch lights come on. Later the house was empty for 15 years until Mrs. Cooper came back with her dog Angela. He gets the car fixed at Mack's Garage. Mr. Cornelius is their real estate agent. Their garbageman was Henry Fletcher who had 4 sons, but only Pete & Chris are seen. They are poor and live by the dump. Once he dreamt of living on his own raising silver foxes instead of having a family. He is friends with Charlie Vickers who moved to Chicago and became and architect. He tells the boys not to fight, but encourages Beaver to fight with Gilbert when he was being a bully and was proud of him for walloping him. When they were looking for houses with Mr. Jackson the realtor the Emerson house was too small. When they moved in season 3 he also got a new car. Advice he gave to Beaver, "Hide your feelings and take it like a man." Their phone number was Whitney 2738. Some of the books he has are: Boy Allies, Warna Durne, Tom Sawyer, Conquest of Mexico, Treasure Island & Ivanhoe.
June Evelyn Cleaver (Barbara Billingsley) - her maiden name is Bronson. She has an Aunt Martha who lives alone in Riverside. She helped June a lot when she was young and also has an uncle. She wanted an opal ring as a girl, but here dad wouldn't but it, instead he got her galoshes. She went away to Fallbrook boarding school in New England and told everyone her mother was a movie star, played George Washington in a school play, all she learned was how to mend socks and bow to diplomats. In the sorority house her job was folding napkins. Won a blue bathing cap for swimming, was the captain of the varsity basketball team at school and worked Thursday nights serving dinners for the USO during the war. Her mom would invite a boy over if he didn't call. She once said John Bowles was her uncle and wrote fake letters from him. Her only job was selling coupon books for 5 days and got the colors all mixed up and was fired, but she is a good typist. She snagged ward by using an indirect approach. At their wedding Martha's friend Mrs. Hathaway who lived in China for 6 years had married a general who was upset she was marrying a Seabee. She went to the opera, plays and a boxing match at Madison Square Garden in New York once. Ward's mother sent her his baby hairbrush. She wanted a girl because after Beaver was in the play she said, "He was so sweet it almost makes up for not having a girl." She thinks Ward talks man talk to Beaver to keep him out of her life. She once had a maid named Minerva to help in the house, though she didn't have a job herself. She has an Uncle Wilbur who married a French girl and disgraced the family. She cried at Beaver's first haircut. She got excited about Wally going to a dance when they built a new ballroom at the country club. She's in the mother's club run by Mrs. Thompson. They only have 1 car, so June uses the City Cab Co. when she needs to get around and refuses to drive a pickup. Her grandmother gave them a teapot for their wedding, they also got dishes, but now they are their third best set. Their friends the Suttons live in Lynwood. The Bannerman's were their best friends until they moved 3-4 years earlier. Margaret is the mom, she has 2 daughters including Kittie who went to school with Wally.
Wallace 'Wally' Cleaver (Tony Dow) - has the Bronson chin and Uncle Frank is his godfather. He lettered in 3 sports in high school which was the most they allowed - swimming, track and football. He does play shortstop for the Mayfield Crusaders too with Charlie Miller. He also played basketball in school and once scored 12 points. His letterman sweater cost him $19. At the Winfield Park races he was the high point winner in the high jump, broad jump and 100 yard dash. He ran the 440 in 58 seconds, could do 26 pushups and weighed 145 pounds his sophomore year. He also got ribbons for dancing, but thinks if he's seen with an umbrella it will ruin him. He had a dog that got curly when it was wet. Coach Grover is his gym teacher, Coach Driscoll for sports. He used to be scared of the wooden Indian in front of the cigar store. He once had food poisoning and used Arabian Knights aftershave. He was friends with Chester Anderson, Tooey Brown who is near blind, Eddie Haskell and Clarence Lumpy Rutherford. Johnny Franklin was someone he knew who went away to Bellport Military Academy and Wally wanted to go too, but changed his mind. He let Eddie wear his football letter to camp so he could be a big shot. He once got a kite for his birthday and a yellow cake with Indians. He once bought chocolate syrup instead of pancakes and drank it all. Has many generic pendants in his room with only one letter like 'W', 'H' or 'P' except for one - Lyndale (Jill Bartlett moved in from Lywood which is also nearby). His mom drove him to school on the first day and introduced himself to the teacher totally embarrassing him. She also told his basketball coach to make sure he wore clean socks and it took 3 months to live it down. He wanted to join the Crusaders and had to play a dancing girl in a show, but got out of it. He was chairman of the blind date committee in high school. He was once a big brother to Jean Baxter until he found out he was a she. In scouts the leader was Mr. Norton. Once when he was sick he got a model plane and magic set for gifts. He was given a gas airplane he wasn't allowed to fly. He and Eddie once tried to get a job at the homeshow. He had a teacher Mr. Bloomgarden who would give you at least a 50 if he could read your paper. His biology teacher has a foot long tooth prop and he studied Alexander the Great. Mr. Clarkson ran metal shop, Mr. Hayes & Mr. Foster (he dated his daughter) were his English teachers, Mr. Dennison is another teacher and on one book cover he wrote 'in case of fire throw in' which Eddie told him he made up. He had a crush on Jenny Thompson who moved from Indianapolis with her dad Charles. He also got a crush on Audrey Hepburn after seeing Roman Holiday. He said he had his own car, his dad was president of a bank and he had a tuxedo in letters to impress Caroline. He went to Mayfield High and liked or dated Harriet Adams, Caroline Cunningham (after leaving Freddy Pryor), Kathy Gregory, Alma Hansen (phone number UNIV 9804), Penny Jameson, Alice Manning's daughter, Julie Rogers & Mary Ellen Rogers (who went away to school and came back a knockout and therefore was the popular girl in school). His other high school classmates were Nita Norton, John Teddie, Hugh Grateen, Louis Jackson, Lori Lubell, John Saunder, Martha Santell, Michael Phillipe, Sandy Montel, Linda Barten, June Felter, Mary Snyder & Phill Dowell.
Theodore 'Beaver' Cleaver (Jerry Mathers) - got his nickname because his brother couldn't say Theodore. It came out Tweever which sounded like Beaver and it stuck. Most adults called him Theodore as he was named his uncle Theodore except for a later date Mary Margaret Matthews & Miss Landers fiance who called him Teddy. When Wally went to scouts he was 12 and Beaver couldn't get in because he was only 7. So they are 5 years apart, but are said to be 6 grades apart, he was in 2nd when Wally was in 8th. As a baby he fell asleep in his cereal. He cut his first tooth on an Indian bracelet that Ward had. His dad forced him to eat eggplant & brussell sprouts. He had many pets - a turtle that died, goldfish that died (so he mailed it back), pigeons that died, an alligator, frogs and Stanley the monkey. His uncle Billy once sent him a wiggle doll from Hawaii and gave him 2 silver dollars for looking like his side of the family. He thought you could fatten up worms with coffee. He once got lost at a football game and the police found him. Had an uncle Henry who died. He was in plays as an a mushroom (originally a canary), a tree, the big bad wolf (Little Red Riding Hood in first grade), an angel and a Dutch Boy. Once spent $1.98 on a genuine Indian tomahawk and says Sunday School stories are violent. He had hamsters and pigeons (Canfield & Landers) that died. The How to Become a Millionaire book he bought his dad was by Oscar Zimmer. He liked Red River Sam books even when they got corny like going to Hawaii. He went to the Margaret Manning Adoption Agency where Mrs. Brady & Mrs. Walker worked to find new parents. Abernathy Potts is the snooty sporting goods store in town where they got his dad a new hunting jacket. When he went to camp he said he could swim when he couldn't and sank like a rock. Betsy Patterson was his first date. Aunt Martha, his godmother, always gave him an umbrella for a present until she gave him a ring that was an heirloom. He went to Grant Ave Grammar (or Elementary) School and had a bank account there with his brother. He sits in the second row which Judy says is the dumb row and the first row is the smart row. He and his brother worked for a week delivering the Courier Sun Newspaper, he also had a job raking Miss Lander's leaves. He would often go to movie theaters like The Madison, The Olympia, The Globe, The Valencia or the drive in and see fake movies like Hot Rod Cuties, Vampire Bats from the Amazon, Vampires of the Amazon, Rope Justice, Man Beast from Mars, The Mad Hypnotist or Jungle Fever. He reads comics like the Adventures of Professor Stanley. He won a cup at the 3 legged race with his dad. He would play at Metzger's Field (that one had a carnival with a real lion) or fish at Miller's Pond or Friend's Lake, picnic at Crystal Falls which was 60 miles away (though later we are told Billy Payton moved there and it's 90 miles away) or camp at Shadow Lake 6200 feet up 4 hours away. His friend Lt. Gus was a fireman with a sheepskin coat who mostly slept at Auxiliary Firehouse #7 where Pete also worked. Fats Flannaghan was a junk man he took bottles to. Mrs. Evans was his babysitter. Doctors that he saw were Dr. Richardson & Dr. Bradley and he once had spots. His first teacher was Miss Canfield, later Miss Alice Landers who he had a crush on whom he described as being neat, fair, pretty & smelled good; the principal was Mrs. Rayburn, the assistant principal is Mr. Willart, Mr. Crawford is the bus driver (who also gave Larry's sister guitar lessons) and Mrs. Prescott taught the dance school. His classmates were Judy Tensler (whom everyone hates & thinks she looks like Shirley Temple), Charles Fredericks (who once hit him on the bus & wanted to have a snake hunt as class project), Whitey, Linda Dennison, Kenneth Purdell (a new kid who stole and gave things to him), Angela Valentine (who has a gold tooth & an extra toe and once won a toolchest at the movies and won the class beauty pageant) & Larry and later Gilbert. David Manning used to be in his class until he moved to Elm St. with his sister and mom Alice. Sonny Cartright was in the 5th grade and gave him trouble. Mrs. Thompson was the school nurse, Dr. Hendricks was the school doctor, Dr. Frederick W. Harrison is his dentist. Larry was his best friend until he moved away, then Gilbert whom he once fought with replaced him. Once got trapped in a giant soup bowl on a billboard. He got a tree for one birthday and they left it at the old house and he went back and dug it up. The first girl he liked was Linda Dennison. His summer tour of America included stops in Albuquerque, the Grand Canyon, the Alamo, Niagara Falls, Atlanta, Williamsburg VA, Grant's Tomb, Washington Monument & Congress. He said he wanted to be a lawyer when he grew up and once talked about joining the circus.
Edward 'Eddie' Clark Haskel Jr. (Ken Osmond) - called everyone Sam and everyone thinks he's a creep. Had a police dog named Wolf from the Korean War. He has faked being sick to get out school. Was a monitor in the 8th grade and took music lessons. No one really likes him except Wally since everyone needs a best friend. Another time Wally says he's his best friend since he beat him up in the 3rd grade and his parents never liked him. He didn't play sports, but was the basketball manager (towel boy). He says his dad Fred would beat him any time he got into trouble. His dad paid a man $3 to paint their trash cans and told him he should only be around people that matter and that boarding schools mean a family has money. He played a girl in a western spoof play and was a big hit when Wally dropped out of the role. Dunlop Griffen once fainted when he ate her ice cream. He threw eggs at Dorothea Dunlop's house so their parents wouldn't let him date her. His dad says you can never get anything good around there. He once had to stay home on a Saturday and he threw a ball on the roof until his dad sent him away. Belinda McGowan and Caroline Schuster went out with him. He dated Dottie Sullivan because her dad owned a construction company. He says you shouldn't be nice to people if you don't have to be. One nice thing he did was stopping 8th graders from throwing rotten apples at Beaver.
The Cleavers - lived somewhere unknown before the show started, then moved to 485 Mapleton Dr., then by season 3 Mr. Benner bought it and they moved to 211 Pine St (or Ave) in Mayfield. They never said what state, though Ohio was hinted at and was listed in the 1997 movie though it was filmed in California. In Voodoo Magic Eddie had an Ohio State pennant in his room. Ward once said the ocean was 20 miles away meaning they had to live on the coast. Bellport is nearby and Elmhurst is a town halfway to Crystal Falls. Madison is a nearby town that Mayfield always beats at sports. There's a Jr ROTC college in town as well as a zoo and reptile park.
Larry Mondello - Beaver's first best friend had an older bother who got married and moved to Cincinnati, an older sister an uncle Alfred, a guest room with a 100 year old bed and eventually the family moved away. In the 2nd grade he had his appendix taken out, hurt his hand and got x-rays plus was out with allergies. He was the fat kid who weighed 105 pounds at age 9 and once broke his seat in school. At that time his grandfather was 92. He has a man visit every year about getting him to go to summer camp. His pigeons were named Nate & Al. His parents wished he was a girl once. He once went swimming in the lake and lost his bathing suit and his dad came out with a towel to cover him. He went to a wedding when his aunt got married. His parents always side with his sister, who is never seen, or she gets headaches. His sister is so homely that she can't she can't get dates and her mom is always trying to pawn her off. She once took a navigation course to get a man. He once had to wear her furry galoshes in the rain and was so embarrassed. His dad has a movie camera and is out of town so much that it makes his wife go crazy when he's not there to discipline Larry.
Gilbert Grover Bates - Beaver's later best friend friend who moved next door in season 2. He has an Aunt Emma and an older sister. He came from Irvington, his dad John is a flute player so they moved 10 times. He has no brothers, but he told lies at first to make people like him - his dad was a millionaire who had been shot working for the FBI and knows Bert Lancaster, he went to the north pole, his brother pitched a no hitter for the Cardinals and his uncle was a stunt pilot.
The Rutherford's - have the word Rancho on their mailbox. Early on Fred said he had two boys and a girl Violet, the boys both got football scholarships. Later Lumpy is the only son we see who is younger and his mom's name is Gwen. Lumpy is called that because as a baby he always slept on one side and his head became lopsided. His not very bright since he got left back once and is momma's boy. Violet once won the 50 yard dash and later broke her leg. Fred would send the Cleaver's gifts when he went on vacation - slippers from Mexico and a pipe from Germany. He was also taking Spanish classes, went to London and got bit by a squirrel. Ward says you can't tell him anything because if he doesn't agree he thinks it's a joke. He always refers to his job as the salt mine. He worries about the girls at the water cooler because he thinks they hate him. He once drank pencil shavings in his coffee at work and didn't notice.
Whitey Whitney - first name is really Hubert and claims to have had every illness including spots & everything. His older sister had a baby, his brother is married with 2 kids and the wedding dress cost $200 and he has an uncle that comes to the father & child day. Once he filled Larry's baseball glove with sand. He once had a bucket of water thrown at him for going in a backyard. Ward says he talks like he's scared. His sister got appendicitis at the lake.
Town - Chester's dad works at the supermarket, he has cousins Harry & Kathy and he has a barn. Tom Corton owns the lumber yard which caught fire, Kirby's store is also in town. In the 6th grade Tooey once had to wear his sneakers around his sneak for wearing his shoes on the new gym floor. He also wears a straw hat. Judy took tap & ballet. Claude Bonafield was the smartest kid in third grade with the Beaver. At a Chuckwagon then burgers were 18 cents. Johnson's Store is the local convenience store. The Phillips girl was always messing with the phone and calling people. One billboard read Champagne Flights to Mexico and Chocolate Rockets was what TV star Marshall Moran was pushing. Big sports teams played at Mayfield stadium. Benjamin 'Benjie' Bellamy was a little kid who lived next door and got into trouble often. Mr. Claxton owned the department store. Mary Ellen Rogers has a brother in college. Mr. Newton works at the drug store. Lindy & Shelley Thompson get dirt thrown at them by other kids. Ace Biscuit Company sold cookies to the school. Judy's father owns Circle Garage and she tells lies about all the adventures he's had. Her parents think she never does anything bad. Judy says in WWII her dad had a plane named after him, but she lies all the time. Mr. Simpson owns the paint store. Uncle Artie's Magic shop was in town and the magic words he used were Mumbo Jumbo Presto. Mr. Davenport is head of the Haydn Memorial Library. The Mayfield Cotillion is where dances were held. Miss Landers has a brother who was an airline pilot and she was engaged to Tom K. Brittingham who played football in college and she played tennis with. Her father is Harold J. Landers.
Things that would be inappropriate today - There are no regular minorities in the cast and no blacks anywhere. Everyone lies before telling the truth so they don't get in trouble. Beaver hanging out alone with an old man like Gus and Gus wanting to go fishing with just him on his new boat saying that's all there's room for. Gus tells Beaver he has a special oil that fixes everything. The salesman goes into the booth when Wally is trying on a suit to help him out. Ward mentioning his family selling whiskey to the Indians. There is constant talk of kids getting beaten by parents or parents being allowed to beat other parent's kids if they wronged them. For example, "don't send me home or my dad will beat me" or "He told the truth, after his dad started beating him." Wally hopes his dad will beat the other guys or their parents if they screw up. Once Larry told the truth about something after his dad beat it out of him. Ward has said a few times about his dad taking him out to the woodshed to beat him or using a strap or belt. Kids are allowed to hang out and watch workmen right where they work with no safety barriers or gear to be seen. Once dogfighting was mentioned as OK. God is mentioned regularly and June is told how God is always watching him and he'll hurt god is he does something wrong.
Plots - many revolve around Beaver getting into something and going for his dad for advice. His dad is too busy to really focus on what he is saying and Beaver talks in hypotheticals to get an answer. When things go wrong he says but dad said it was OK, then Ward realizes he didn't give the best advice. During this Wally will ask his mom for something bizarre for no reason like getting a monkey, a mustache, a tattoo, going out of the country, to Hawaii, not going to college and storing bait in the fridge to which June always says no. Most of the other plots involve the characters doing something they never did before or since and getting involved with someone we'll never see again who causes trouble. By the end everything is OK and the person disappears forever - like Miss Landers fiance.
Errors - In Larry Hides Out when the boys pull up Larry's suitcase to their window it is seen from the den. Then den is on the front left corner of the house, the boys' room is on the back right corner so it couldn't have happened. In Beaver's First Date when Beaver gets ready for dance school his collar is up, the next scene it is down. In Tenting Tonight the outside shots show the tent collapsed in the middle, inside the tent is fine. In Wally's Job Ward hands June a can of paint, then in the next shot it disappears. In Beaver and Henry Ward tells the boys remember how they messed up the paper route, when it was hit fault it got messed up. In Ward's Problem June hands Beaver a cookie right out of the oven that he eats and it's not hot. In Her Idol Ward is leaning on his desk in one shot and a shot from the other side he's leaning back in his chair and it keeps switching. In this episode he reads a letter send home from Beaver that has a lot of fake stuff in it when made by the prop department. In The Garage Painters it's pouring rain when Ward comes home, but he's totally dry. In Beaver's Pigeons Ward brings the cage home it's small, but when Larry wants to bring his pigeons over the cage is now 4x bigger. Ward says they built a pyramid over King Tut, but he was buried in the Valley of the Kings, not a pyramid. In Beaver's Hero Ward mentions the crash of the Graf Zeppelin, but it never crashed and they probably meant to say the obvious Hindenburg. In Dance Contest Beaver hangs outside the window to watch Wally dance, but they are on the second floor. In Beaver Takes a Bath when he fills the tub it's freestanding in the middle of the room, but in the overflowing closeup shots it's rectangular and attached to the wall. In School Bus the rules of the bus are mailed in a small envelope, but later when Beaver is reading them they are in a large pristine booklet. In Beaver the Magician when Beaver is turned into a large rock everyone handles it like it weighs nothing and it does since it's a prop. In The Hypnotist there are 2 metal benches near the front door, but in all similar shows and shots from the road they aren't there. In the same episode June pulls a dish out of the oven with bare hands and eats a fresh cookie from it, both would be too hot to touch. In Wally and Alma, Alma's phone number UNIV 9804, but is written as 29804.
Beaver - "Sometimes things get so messed up all you can do is cry!" "If girls are creepy in the Bible, how are they supposed to be in real life?"
Ward - "It's not easy being a Lumpy."
Wally - "I guess that bad feeling is what makes people get married." "It's no fun doing stuff you shouldn't when they let you." "When parents hit you they are trying to help."
It's a Small World #Pilot 4/23/57 - an Eddie Haskel
(Harry Shearer) type tells Beaver he can get a free bicycle if he collects 1000
milk caps just to get rid of him. So he and Wally round them up from wherever
they can including taking them from neighbors. Mr. Baxter (Richard Deacon who
would play Fred Rutherford) of the milk company saves face by agreeing there is
