THE 29TH MARK
NEWS AND STUFF
The 29th Mark formed in November of 2003 with five members to begin with. Justin Mitchell on the chords (vocal chords that is), Dustin Nolke on guitars, Logan Peck on guitars, Jake McDaneld on bass and backing vocals/screams, and last but not least, the man with the sexy legs, Matt Conner on the drums. And now I shall go into a bit of history of each individual member, but first let me add that at the time the band was a five-piece (or when they very first started out) their name was "Going to Grandma's." Now, on with the story. Justin Mitchell hails from Ottawa, Kansas and still lives there today. Justin used to play in a band called "Unperfect" and even recorded an album with the band. Today, Justin is the lead singer and plays some of the guitar parts for The 29th Mark. How did he get to be in the band you ask? Well, he came to a Going to Grandma's practice one day, picked up the mic, and started crooning everyone in the room. That's when Dustin Nolke and Logan Peck looked and Justin and said, "you're in." And he's been in ever since. And by "in" I mean kiss me when I'm sleeping. So he's way in. Eduardo, we love you. Dustin Nolke is originally from Carrollton, Missouri but moved to Wellsville, Kansas in his earlier years. There his parents opened a grocery store called "Nolke's Cash Saver" off of the Wellsville I-35 exit. Dustin works there sometimes; sometimes he doesn't work there. But now Dustin attends college at Baker University in Baldwin and is the reason that The 29th Mark can play in a frat house basement. Dustin is the former guitarist of the post-famous band "Defiance." Props go out to Dave the Jew. Logan Peck moved to Baldwin his freshman year of college from San Diego, California to play baseball for BU and read some books to cram his brain with knowledge. And no, I'm not leaving beer out of this; I mean, what do you expect? But due to the fact that Logan is an excellent baseball player, he's not with the band anymore because his awesomeness at the game of ball he's with the BU varsity team and plays all over the mid-west. But we wish him luck anyway, so rock on, man. Logan, we might give you back stage passes someday--when we're on Warped Tour! Yeah! In your face! By the way, Logan used to be the guitarist in the band "Counterclockwise." Jake McDaneld moved to Wellsville from Lawrence, Kansas quite awhile back, and was recruited into the band after Dustin Nolke asked him to fill in for their former bass player who was leaving for England for a study abroad program. Now the youngest member of the band at 18 (and the only one still in high school, but definitely the coolest), Jake controls the bass grooves and hardcore screams in the band. He was brought into the band the same day Justin was, and basically, in the same fashion. "You're in." We love you Eduardo. Jake is the former bass player and lead singer of the band "My Own Integrity."
