| Vertical Alignment | Imagine - if you will - an alternate universe... where Keith Emerson enlists as a songwriting keyboard playing member of Jefferson Airplane! In this stange land, rather than specializing in psychedelic drugs, rebellion, and bashing keyboards, this Emerson-Airplane crew focused their intense energy toward fantasy, sci-fi, and eternal truth in their prog rock! Vertical Alignment is that band. The year 2004 is that alternate universe! Prog Rock Positivity Radio currently plays their song "Once in a Dream" and will soon have an exclusive preview track from this exciting new band! Peter and Terri J. are also enthusiastic members of our Positivity Discussion list - sharing information about their favorite music - and even computer word games! :-) |
|
| Valley | Zozzy is simply a supurb vocalist and one of the most sincerely
unpretentious belivers I've corresponded with in a long time. Zozzy is another truly Positive contributing member of our discussion list - sharing favorites from his CD player - enjoying the positive net music discussion community we have at ProgPositivity! He has a great website too! Check out www.spiritualmind.org |
|
| Ajalon | I first heard of this band when Rick Wakeman announced he would
distribute them through Hope records. We look forward to playing more new tracks from their yet to be released "On the Threshold of Eternity" as well as continuing to air songs from their classic "Light at the End of the Tunnel" |
|
| Akacia | Guitar driven tracks from their 2003 debut CD "An Other
Life". Only 4 tracks on the CD
and 3 of them are over 10 minutes long! Intricate and powerful compositions. Vocalist Eric Naylor is very comfortable being himself at the mic, which is very cool in my book! |
|
| America Gomorrah | America Gomorrah rocks!
I can't find their website right now but I'm sure it will be back "up and running" soon. |
|
| By the Tree | Pardon the pun… "rootsy" music. (Hey, blame the band not me! Their latest album is titled
"Roots"! Not really prog - but it seeks to elevate the Spirit in a transcendent way similar to great prog. Very good messages and highly recommended! |
|
| Dave Beegle | Phil
Keaggy calls him "one of the most creative and accomplished guitarists
I've met"! Nuff Said! |
|
| Divine in Sight | Imagine the vocal harmonies of Queen (during their 70's rock phase before they went pop). Then add the punchy Rick
bass sound of the band Rush (during their
classic 70's melodic metal phase before they added synths)! The guitarist manages to somehow *meld* the two sounds… one moment his guitars sing with harmonies reminiscent of Brian May. The next he's suddenly thickening the mix with crunchy chords like those Alex Liefson wielded so well during Rush's "Farewell to Kings", "2112" era! |
|
| Dwight Mitchell | Concept albums are a "grand tradition" in prog (and in
AOR). But let's face it. Most of them are a bit "over the
top" (i.e. not quite plausible) with their storylines. From The Who's "Tommy", to
Spock's Beard's "Snow" and Styx's "Kilroy" there is
usually something "bigger than life" about them. That is far from the case on this most effective concept album of Dwight Mitchell - The Diary! On ProgPositivity, you will hear tracks from this eclectic, grand, progressive concept album! From the opening sound of turning pages through each musical adventure that unfolds, the true-life story of Lillian Carroll reveals the human frailty and struggles that many of either have faced or will face at some point in our lives. Everything from Prog to techno-prog is on this CD. "A powerful cutting edge rock opera by Dwight Mitchell". |
|
| Eric Parker | We
play Eric Parker's song "Hold Me Again" on Cprog Positivity. Eric is the founder of "Music for Missions!" Two-thirds of the proceeds of their album sales go to "Gospel for Asia"! Truly an admirable project from "music for missions". Check them out! |

| Glass Hammer | What can I possibly say about this incredible American Prog Band
that hasn't already been said before?
They just keep getting better!
Here's a quote from Steve Babb! "(Mark Stephens is) without a doubt the most positive DJ I have ever heard - anywhere"… |
|
| Jars of Clay | Another very familiar and popular band. Creative and sensitive Christian rockers - we will spin their tunes from time to time on Cprog Positivity Radio. | |
| Jeff Johnson | Jeff
is a very prolific instrumental music producer on the mellow Camel-esque side
of Prog-Rock. Some of his music is
Celtic, some of it could be called New Age.
He's been releasing concept albums based on books by Stephen Lawhead
(Snowgoose anyone?). Songs from Albion is a favorite and perhaps has the most "rock" type instrumentals - so we tend to play tracks from that CD the most on CprogPositivity |
|
| Navigator | ||
| Neal Morse | Spock's Beard composer, singer, keyboardist, has also made and
incredibly genuine concept double-CD, his own Testimony! Attention to detail in every respect… Not a parable - this is a Testimony! Virtually every line of every lyric has the "ring of truth". |
|
| Proto-Kaw | From his days with Kansas, through the book "Seeds of
Change" and the solo album of the same name, to his time leading AD, and
beyond... Kerry has been an inspiration to so many of us throughout the
years! What a joy it is to "give back" to this great composer and arranger by encouraging him and playing his music on the air! Proto-Kaw is his latest project! Kerry just keeps getting better and better! |
|
| Revelation Project | Like the harder rock side of Prog? Check out Revelation Project! |
|
| Salem Hill | Another very well known (and deservedly so) Christian prog
band. Take the more prog side of Styx (Like Grand Illusion & Pieces of Eight), add some Kansas, and then add prog elements "all their own" and you get a catchy, ambitious, moving musical experience. Like any great prog band, no single song - or album - captures the scope of their output! |
|
| Shadowstar | Another artist from the CPR compilation. They are working on their debut CD. We will spin the song "Documents" from time to time on the air. | |
| Ten Point Ten | You will hear us play their "radio single" for
now. But I'm hoping to soon get their
more *prog* material for airplay from Bill soon! If you are a friend of Ten Point Ten - please tell them to e-mail or call Mark Stephens ASAP! :-) |
|
| Theophonic Cloud | What a great track they have with "Dry Bones"! Theophonic Cloud has really set a high bar of expectations for their debut CD. I can't wait to hear it! | |
| Vox Dei | Vox Dei (from Argentina) put out a concept CD (primiarily instrumental) based on the Bible! Great guitar driven prog rock - we will play any and all tracks from this import CD at any given moment! | |
| Syzygy | Wow. Jaw dropping intensity and beauty. This is incredible music. You just have to hear it. That is all I can say. | |
