| Hoang Nguyen is a concert pianist and piano teacher in Orange County, California. Born in Vietnam, he started to play piano with his mother at the age of seven and then at the National Conservatory of Hanoi. He made his orchestral debut at the age of thirteen performing Mozart's Piano Concerto in A Major, K.488 with the National Symphony Orchestra of Vietnam. Discovered by French pianist Genevieve Martigny at the age of fourteen, Hoang traveled to France to pursue his musical studies at the Jean-Philip Rameau Conservatory in Paris, then at the National Conservatory of Versailles with Professor Desire N'kaoua. Three years later, he was accepted to the National Conservatory of Paris in the class of Professor Olivier Gardon, and graduated with a first prize in 2001. During his six years studying in France, Hoang performed in major music fesvitals such as Nice, Flaine, Guerande, Forum Normandie as well as Saint-Germain des Pres and Cite des Arts Concert Halls in Paris. A recipient of Elsie Sweeny Music Scholarship, Hoang traveled to the United States to study with Professor Evelyne Brancart at the Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music. He graduated in 2005 with a Performer Diploma. Hoang studied privately with Vietnamese pianist Dang Thai Son in Montreal, Canada and Aix en Provence, France He also played in the Master Class of Menahem Pressler, Gary Graffman, Marc Durand and Madeline Bruser. Receiving the Alicia de Larrocha music scholarship, Hoang is currently working on his Master Degree of Music at California State Univerity, Fullerton with Professor Eduardo Delgado. He was the grand prize winner of the 2007 Cal State Fullerton Concerto Competition performing Ravel's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand with the Unversity Symphony Orchestra, and a finalist at the 2006 Los Angeles Liszt International Piano Competition, Budapest Division. Hoang Nguyen is a piano faculty at Fountain Valley Music and Arts School, he aslo maintained a private piano studio in Fountain Valley and Fullerton in the last three years. His students attdend the Orange County High School of the Arts. |
