Project
1988 Mustang GT
By Todd Tolbert
Project Scope:

To take my 1988 Ford Mustang GT and restore it to a beter than new vehicle.

To complete this mighty task, I have enlisted the aid of Tom Dugan and Dugan Racing (www.dugan-racing.com).

I hope to keep this site up to date  as my project progresses.

My Plan includes:

New Ford Racing Crate motor

New paint, weatherstriping

New Tr1ck One suspension system

New Cobra disc brakes (13" frt, 11.65 rear)

New 17" 5 lug wheels and tires
Pre-project Photo of my 1988 GT.
The car is one of the last mustangs with factory T-tops and currently has 289,000 miles on it (with the original clutch still in it). I was still driving it untill it developed a head gasket leak.  The car has a few of the "typical" bolt on's, 3.55 gears, flowmaster exhaust and aftermarket wheels.  Most of which will be replaced with new, better parts.

Step one:  Get it Running!
Somewhere along the line my fuel pump died.  So I am installing a Ford Racing 190 Lph pump, new sending unit, fuel filter and lines.

Step two:  Get the car to Dugan Racing
Once I got the new fuel pump installed and fired up the car, I noticed an overheating problem. Now the question is can I drive it 140 miles to Dugan Racing?
Complete 8-28-2004
Left out early to avoid traffic and to aid in keeping the pony cool.  I had forgotten just how fast and strong that thing was until I got it out on the road again.

Droped the car off and headed for home..
Pictures?  oh yeah... Click here
