| the night i knew it was then, i realized you and i would never work the night of tip-toeing when i slept over cause a drive back would have been too lonely to risk. so i dropped my bags in your room, to wait out the night with you. but you wouldn't even let me borrow the tooth brush. afterward, i cried huddled beneath white sheets with your arm across my stomach, while you snored above me, i felt very small, and worse, unimportant to you. maybe i was hurt by your selfishness, by your reluctance to give in to me. truth is, i don't care about tooth brushes mostly, i just wanted you to make room for me in your life. but i should have known better, there's not even space for me in your bed. i don't like sleeping in a ball. |
