lip-stick print

i want to wear red lip-stick and
a long black wig. to walk
among strangers who feel they know me
i'll smile at no one,
and seem familiar to you all.
i want to stamp out my sentences
like cigarettes.
i want you to be fooled by my
disguise and offer me a drink.
in high-heels and fish-nets
i will walk like i am the only woman
left in this place.
they will stop, crane necks, and stare.
you and i will drink up till the bar closes,
stumble blind into the night and snow
and when you ask, why did our love end?
i will not answer.
in my lip-stick print, i want to say
you're no longer welcome here.
