| I began playing the violin when I was almost 10 and I joined the school orchestra. After that, I began taking private lessons with Elizabeth, which is when I developed a true passion and talent for the violin. I continued to play in the school orchestra and my senior year I was named co-concert master. Deciding to play the violin was one of the best decisions of my life for music has carried me through many tough times. Reenacting has been a part of my life since I was very little. Every year my grandma took me to The Fair at New Boston, in costume. In 2001, she helped me make my very own pink Empire dress. What an experience! In 2000, I combined my love of music and history when I began playing the violin at the Fair at New Boston. I put out my straw hat and I was able to make money doing something that I love. It was during that first year playing at the Fair that I met Kenneth. Later in the year when I was very stressed and didn't know what I was going to do with my life, I thought of him. His family does reenactments for a living. I decided that I, too, could do that. I could play my music at fairs for the rest of my life. It was the thought of that which pulled me through my junior year of high school. I may not end up doing reenactments as my only profession, but just having that as an option helped me feel as though I had a future doing something. I still plan to continue playing music and doing reenactments throughout my life, but I don't plan on making it my life. I want to be a teacher and do reenactments and be a musician. I would also like to be a fiddler in a Celtic Rock band! |
