| Begin a journal to keep at home and write in it every day, or when you can. Paste in cartoons or pressed flowers. Give it to your loved one when they return home. They'll love reading about your days without them, and they can read the things that you couldn't (or didn't want to) send to them in a letter while they were away. Make "coupons" to use when they get home. Some ideas - One Half-Hour Foot Massage, One 15 Minute Back Rub, etc... Be creative. ;) Wives or girlfriends can send sexy panties. Just be sure to put them in an envelope all their own marked Private so he won't open them in a common area and get embarrassed. :) Lots of disposable cameras. They can take pictures of the boat and in port and then mail them home for you to develop. This is especially nice for Scapbookers! Always write letters, but in addition you might record your letters onto a tape (or onto the computer to make a CD). Make your own custom crossword puzzle! They'll love it. :) A small battery operated fan for their rack. A small battery operated light with a clip on it is great for hanging in their rack. It's easier to read by than using a flashlight. Check with your sailor-many have lights in their rack already and wouldn't need additional light. Try baking cookies that will fit snugly inside a Pringles can. If you make soft cookies it could help them to arrive without being completely smashed. Freshness could be an issue so be sure to wrap them up very securely with plastic wrap also There can never be enough balloons. :) Put some on the mailbox, on the door, on the car--everywhere. Maybe fill a room with helium balloons and close the door to surprise them. You can buy a disposable helium tank for $30 that will fill 150 balloons! |
