| The 7th and 8th Grade Orchestra is a performance based class that meets twice a week in a rotating block schedule. Students will meet on the following days and times: Mondays Tuesday Thursday 1st 8:00-8:40 8:00-9:23 8:00-9:23 3rd 9:26-10:06 9:26-10:49 9:26-10:49 Students who particpate in orchestra only will play on every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Students who participate in orchestra and/or band/chorus will follow the rotating schedule but will still meet on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. |
| The 7th and 8th Grade Orchestra will not only practice concert music in class, but will have written assessments such as theory quizzes and worsheets, composer packets, and written and playing tests. Students will also have to turn in every TUESDAYS a practice log. This is worth 15% of their total grade. The following grading scale will be used for practicie logs: A = 100 minutes B = 99-80 minutes C=79-60 minutes D = 59-40 minutes If you practice for 20 minutes for 5 days, you will fulfill the 100 minute requirement to receive an A. | AMS Orchestra will perform in 8 Mandotory Rehearsals/ Concerts. For every concert missed will result in your grade being lowered ONE letter grade. The following is a list of all Manadatory Concerts for the Orchestra Program: Oct. 16, 2007: 3:00-4:30pm - Dress Rehearsal - Main Aud. Oct. 18, 2007: 6:15pm Arrival - 7:00 Concert - Main Aud. Dec. 4, 2007: 3:00-4:30 pm - Dress Rehearsal -Main Aud. Dec. 5, 2007: 6:15pm Arrival - 7:00 Concert -Main Aud. Mar.19, 2008; Stringsation - Rehearsal- 5:30 Concert @ 7:30 - Annex Gym April 5, 2008: District Organizational - Triad Middle School April 22, 2008: 3:00-4:30pm Dress Rehearsal - Main Aud April 24, 2008: 6:15pm Arrival - 7:00pm Concert - Main Aud. April 26, 2008: State Organizational - Triad Middle School If you miss a concert because of a family conflict, a note must be written and signed by your parents. At that time you will be able to make up up tp 85% of your concert grade by completeing an Orchestra Critique. |
