Samples & Analysis: Mozart

Mozart! Probably along with Beethoven and Bach, the most famous musical composer of all time. Writing in the classical period, much of Mozart's music is characteristically elegant and smooth.

Decorated with trills and grace notes, Mozart's music contains many more leaps and bounds than does Bach. (See Fig. 01)

This piece in particular is very upbeat and cheerful, so it's fun trying to let your bow leave the string at frequent intervals in order to create that kind of bouncy mood. Remaining in G major practically throughout, the only major and notable change to this is in the middle of the piece, when Mozart decides to switch to A minor (C major's relative minor) (See Fig. 02)

Overall a really nice piece to listen to- at a quick pace but not too fast, and tricky to play but possible.
