Improvising game

Aim: The
aim is for a group to prepare an improvisation gaining points for each
correctly identified musical element. This game can also be played by
individuals. It helps students to focus on a variety of musical elements
which need to be considered when preparing an improvisation.
Rules
- Each individual or group chooses a card from each of
the coloured stacks to use in their improvisation.
- Each team has an overview copy of all the cards for
when they observe an improvisation.
- Each group creates an improvisation, which involves
as many of the elements they can control and communicate.
- A 10-minute preparation time limit could be used.
- The teacher acts as a judge.
Scoring
- You win one point per element that you used correctly in your performance.
- The other team gains a point for each element that they guess correctly.
- A 10-minute preparation time limit could be used.
- Where there is time to spare more cards could be collected after the first improvisation is finished and another improvisation could be
attempted.
