About Music Town Kids
Music Town Kids is an early childhood music and movement service for children and their families in the Cincinnati area.  Children ages birth through five years (pre-kindergarten) are invited to join classes.  There are classes for just the student and a parent/ guardian, as well as classes for the whole family.  Parents/guardians are a part of the participation in classes as their child's  "first teacher".  Much more is involved in the classes besides singing.  Parents can also get information about the stages of development of their child, better understanding their child, and helping their child grow through music and movement.

Some Frequently Asked Questions
How is Music Town Kids different than other early childhood music classes in the Tri-State?
Music Town Kids classes are very different than many of the classes that may be more familiar to parents.  The classes are based on the music philosophies of Zoltan Kodaly and Carl Orff.  These music philosophies are about making music through singing, music listening, and learning musical ideas on musical instruments.  These music philosophies are important for your child to develop a musical sense at their young age, which these two philosophers had developed through early childhood children!!  All songs used are traditional folksongs, not piggyback songs or newly composed songs. It was through the philosophies of Kodaly and Orff that these songs are the best for your child, teaching about their culture and language.  All instructors are certified and experienced in both of these philosophies.  All of the instructors at Music Town Kids(tm) also have vast experience and education in early childhood development and psychology, gearing all songs and activities directly to the age-appropriateness of your child.  This will help your child develop at their pace and can help parents with learning about their own child.  The instructors at Music Town Kids(tm) truly care about your kids! All instructors also have background checks (BCI & FBI) prior to teaching.  Most of all, the classes are fun!  They are child-focused to make the classes as if they are playing (so they really don't realize they are learning!).  The classes are also affordable to accommodate the working family.
Will Music Town Kids(tm) make my child into the next Mozart?
Early exposure to music at a young age will help your child appreciate music, be able to respond to music, and will create a lifelong love for music.  Music Town Kids is not created to help your child become a musical prodigy (however, if that is discovered through the classes, we will definitely celebrate that fact!).  However, musical development will help your child in other areas of development besides music,  such as language, gross and fine motor skills, discipline, social skills, higher level cognitive skills, and much more.  There are so many studies right now about brain development in infancy through preschool-aged children and how music can contribute to their development in many areas.
I can't sing!  Do I really need to be in the classes?
Yes!!  As your child's "first teacher" you do not have to have a solo voice to guide your child in music.  Your children learn much more than just singing- they learn that all ages, including adults, can enjoy music and be a part of the music making process.  Your child will not become a "bad singer" through listening to you sing!  The singing voice in a child is nurtured during the early stages of life.  Though some have "musical talent" that may be inherited, singing tonefully and having a musical sense of self, moving and responding musically are developed skills that are at its peak during early childhood.
My child is not participating with the activities in class but will sing the songs in the car on the way home.  Should I be concerned?
Absolutely not!  Your child may not respond in class at first because they are learning!  Children need repetition to learn concepts and activities.  This is why practicing at home is so important.  This is a common issue particularly during the older infant/ toddler ages.  If you see that your child is watching during the class and focused on the activities, you can be sure they are taking it all in and learning from it.
