About the Amabile Singers of Nepean:
The Amabile [ahmahbeelay] Singers of Nepean is a group of female musicians who are friends ("amabile" in Italian) and lovers of vocal music. The choir was founded in the fall of 1989 by its current director and is primarily a volunteer organization serving the community. In addition to eight to ten retirement/ nursing home visits per season, the choir performs for worthy causes like the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Parkinson's Society, Christian Women's Club, Christmas Exchange of Ottawa-Carleton, Canadian Cancer Society and various church groups. The choir is grateful to the former City of Nepean for three grants to purchase music, to the Kiwanis Club of Rideau for a grant to purchase additional music and to SOCAN which helped the choir pay composer Dr. James Wright to write "The Language of Flowers" which the choir premired in 1998.
Every second year, the choir sponsors a choral workshop open to members of any choral group in February or March of the even numbered years. In 2010, the clinician will be Dr. James Wright
