| It was later that night when Sara finally woke up. Actually, she didn't wake up, someone was just shaking her, but what's the difference. When she finally got up, Joe left her to change clothes and get ready to leave. This part was partially a blur, she remembered being dropped off in front of the house, but she couldn't remember how she got there. At the time, it didn't seem to matter, she had a mission to complete. She walked up to the front door and knocked on it. Nobody came so she bent down and looked for the key hiding under the flowerpot. It must have been part of the background information, because no one ever told her where to look for the key. She walked inside and felt like she was really home. It was strange, because she thought she never had been there, but she also thought that she's been there forever. She went into his bedroom and found Sam there sleeping. He looked exhausted as if he had been overworking himself for days. She decided not to wake him up. She went into the kitchen, waited a few seconds for the phone to ring, quickly picked it up, and told "her aunt" to check on her in the morning. Sara went into her bedroom, got into her pajamas and went back to sleep. The next morning, Sam noticed that he wasn't alone. First of all, the bathroom was already warmed up, the way it always was when Sara was around. Then, when he went into the kitchen for breakfast, there she was eating breakfast, same as always. It was like nothing happened, which he didn't feel that her disappearing for a few days was a normal habit. She looked up and asked Sam how was he while she was gone. "Oh, now you think about me. You were gone for days! You didn't even call, why didn't you call. You know, I was going to call the police today. Now you want to know how I am! I'm doing awful, I was worried to death, I called everyone, I went everywhere, and I found nothing! Where were you? Who were you with? Why didn't you tell me?" She looked at him and felt kind of guilty. This mission is going to have to be mainly acting, lying, and convincing. She was good at none of them. "I was at my aunt's house. She was real close to my mother, so I spent a few days there to catch up on old times. I learned so many things about her and my mother! I forgot to tell you because she called and asked me how I was doing. Then she started to talk about my mom, and I thought it would be nicer to hear those stories in person, so I went over to her house, which isn't too far from here. I would've called, but I was so busy that it just went over my head. I left yesterday morning, I thought I was going to make it home by late afternoon, but there was a huge traffic jam. I'm sorry." "That's okay. I guess I should've checked with your relatives. Let's spend the day together. It was so quiet while you were gone. What do you say?" She would've answered, but the phone rang and Sam picked it up. "Hello? Why yes she is, you must be her aunt. Hold on just a second." Sam handed the phone to Sara. Sara talked on the phone for a while. Sam couldn't help but notice that the small talk she had on the phone was normal. It didn't sound like she had spent days with her aunt, she seemed too tense and not too sure on what to talk about. He would have to keep an eye on her for a while. |
