| On our trip to Washington D.C., the monument that had the most impact on me would have to be Iwo Jima. Not only is it dedicated to all of the Marines who have given their lives in the defense of the United States since 1775, but it also depicts the national pride of our soldiers. It also symbolizes the national gratitude for the dead, not just the Marines, by honoring them. I believe that it is not just a Marine Corps Memorial, but it is also a memorial for those who take pride in our nation, whether they are dead or alive. The Marines depicted in the memorial are showing their national pride, but how could I show mine? The same feelings aroused when I saw the Vietnam Memorial. The long, shiny, black wall |
