Potato is a MUSH/MUD/MOO/etc client written in Tcl/Tk. It requires Tcl/Tk 8.4 (or higher) and Iwidgets 4.0. It also makes use of the Img (not too important), ctext (used for PennMUSH Syntax Highlighting), and snack (for playing sounds in response to data received from the MUSH) packages, where available, and Winico if you're on Windows. (As of July 12th 2004, it also uses 'winflash'.)

This is very much still a work-in-progress. I first started this copy (based on a copy of a program with the same name a friend gave me, so I have no idea how the name came about, really:) on April 25 2003, and have been fiddling with it ever since, adding features and trying to make it work right :) I've put a copy of Winico up here, since I had a hard time finding a copy that would work; just unzip the files into the /lib/ folder (which is created automatically the first time Potato is run). Potato itself can be found here (you'll need to change the extension from .txt to .tcl, Geocities wouldn't let me upload it with the TCL extension). If you're on Windows, unzip the files here into the /lib/ folder, to get taskbar flashing that works.

As I said, this is VERY much a work in progress; it's still missing some features, notably the "default" config screens (it has config screens for individual saved 'worlds', though), and has some bugs - it seems to work OK on Windows (95 and XP), though has so far locked up on Linux (any help appreciated:) and is untested on MacOS. Any suggestions for improvements (or code for them, better yet!:) is greatly appreciated; please email it to me at [email protected]. Incidently, for more information on what a MUSH is, check out the website of one of, if not the finest ones around - ElendorMUSH. If you have any problems, questions, suggestions, etc, relating to this code, anything at all, please don't hesitate to email me!

A list of features are shown here, and an icon/cursors for Windows can be found here; just unzip into the /img/ folder. You can also find a 'dictionary', aka very long list of words in a text-file, here; just download it, place it in the /msgs/ folder, and change the extension from .txt to .dic (again, Geocities won't let me upload w/the right extension).
