BLAIR WITCH PICTURES, 2001

In July and November of 2001, I had the opportunity to visit Seneca Creek State Park, where much of the movie The Blair Witch Project was filmed.  I am a big fan of the movie, so I enjoyed finding and seeing these familiar places.

A mysterious wooden shack at the edge of the road, surrounded by unkempt foliage

This is the shack that appears early in the movie. (The shot above is from the same perspective as it is seen in the movie; the shot below is from further ahead, a point of view not shown in the movie.)

The same shack, seen from the side, looks even more dilapidated

By the way, if you go to see this shack, I would strongly recommend not trying to enter, because it is surrounded by rusty barbed wire, and is probably on private land.  Also, it is obviously far too small to be the house at the end of the movie.

This is a picture of the rocks where the scene with the two fishermen was filmed; the bridge in the background is briefly visible in the movie.

Mossy rocks in a wide creek, with a car bridge in the background

Finally, here is Coffin Rock, shot from the opposite side of the stream.  The black vertical rock face behind the rock is the one behind Heather when she tells the story of the rock.

A mossy rock jutting out into the stream, with a foreboding black rock face behind it.
