one and buy a hyacinth to feed your soul.

About Me
This diary was first published
under the handle, Musette Oleander, generated through the online amusement,
The Great Archives Determine Your Vampire Name. Its creole ring
appealed to me, because I have a creole heritage and a creole faith.
Time has carried me on and,
as is its wont, has given me a new personal marker accordingly: Goody Lamb
I am a cradle catholic. The place where I was
born and raised is a vibrant mix of cultures and faiths, and it's noted for being an open
door to the spirit world. All things there -- color, personalities, ideas -- are
brilliantly saturated. As a child, my mother read bible stories to me, and I
listened to Nancy
stories too. One grandmother is a student of herbal medicine and physiognomy, the other looked
towards the convent as a girl. My great-grandmother sat on her porch every day, praying
the rosary for each person in her small town.
I hold firmly that
faith is the
acceptance in grace of revealed truth, which makes it possible to
penetrate the mystery in a way that allows us to understand it
coherently21 [Declaration Dominus Iesus, from the
Offices of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, August 6,
2000]
and
belief, in the other
religions, is that sum of experience and thought that constitutes the
human treasury of wisdom and religious aspiration, which man in his
search for truth has conceived and acted upon in his relationship to God
and the Absolute.22 [Declaration Dominus Iesus]
I believe, in following,
that faith illuminates and make sense of our honestly deduced beliefs.
It is said in the Church that all
participate in the priesthood of Christ. It is my conviction that the center of the
church and a sacramental life is the home.
The notion of bread and hyacinths is
attractive to me. I imagine these would grace all tables in Elysium.

Do you know about firelight? It's a
kind of magic. Firelight makes time stand still. When you put out the
lamps and sit in the firelight's glow, there aren't any rules any more.
You can do what you want, say what you want, be what you want.
-- Firelight, William
Nicholson

By Firelight is not
of a specific religious tradition, but common ground is found in the
mystical craft. It is a safe haven, to explore and share one's own faith,
beliefs, and spiritual journey.
The layout of this website, though not as sophisticated, was
inspired by Dawn R. Jackson's Cottage of the
