Character Information
Name: Gabriella DuMasque
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Age: 23
Height: 5'5''
Weight: 115 lbs.
Position: Waitress/Dancer at a local cantina
General Description (hair, eyes, build, complexion, etcetera...):
Gabriella's hair is a raven black, and falls down to just above the swell of her hips. Usually it is left hanging down about her face or pulled up in some alluring fashion, allowing the front locks of her hair to forever remain about her eyes. These eyes are the same shade as her hair, almost the color of an onyx, and it seemed almost quite possible to get lost in their depths. Her smooth skin is a lightly tanned color and her figure is slender and lithe, giving her an added grace as she moves.
Clothing and Jewelry:
Most of Gabriella’s clothing is simple yet elegant and has been made by her own hands to suit her form. All of her garements are flattering to her figure, often consisting of a tightly-laced bodice and full skirt that allows her with complete freedom of movement. Though she is certainly of the poorer class, she manages to barter and buy scraps of clothing at the local market and turn it into a design fully her own style of exotic allure.
Her jewelry is scarce and few but for the pieces she does own, it is swapped out daily for whatever best matches her current attire. A locket...a ring...an anklet...a charm. All gifts from some of the space pilots that passed through Couruscant on their way towards unknown destinations. However, her favorite item to wear is a simple silver ring with a sapphire that (rumor has it) came from one of her many admirers which she wears every day.
Weapons:
Gabriella does not carry a weapon with her nor is she trained to use one.
Personality:
Gabriella has a very vibrant, outgoing and friendly personality. She loves her job as waitress at the cantina but is often caught mixing business with pleasure as she mingles with the occupants of the cafe before being caught by Ruri'layek, the head cook, and being told to get back to work. Sometimes, when the crowd becomes a bit slim and the work load not as heavy, Gabbi will entertain with a dance.
Quirks:
Gabriella adores precious stones and gems of any kind. Though she is relatively poor, she has managed to form a small collection of such items from "admirers" that come through the spaceports of Couruscant.
Character's Background:
Gabriella was conceived during a "night of passion" when her mother met a wandering spacer that captured her heart. Unfortunately, he had no intentions of settling down and beginning a life of any kind and was soon off again towards an unknown destination. Morera Quinotaz took her lover's last name, becoming Morera DuMasque, declaring that her child would not be given the kind of life that most children born under such circumstances would. However, this was the furthest thing from the truth and without any way to support both herself and her child, Morera finally gave herself over to servanthood in a final act of desperation.
Gabriella was thus raised as a slave from the time she was six all the way up until her eighteenth year. Unlike most slaves, Gabriella and Morera were well looked after and treated by their master, Hoseia Grenthal. They were given a small salary every week, a place to stay in the small loft of his house, and as much food as they required from his kitchen. All he demanded in return was honest, good work.
When Gabriella reached the age of eighteen, Hoseia called her to his study and made the announcement that he was soon to release both her and her mother from his command. He had fallen into a bit of a problem with his money and was needing to cut back on his workers...and he also knew that Gabriella had not yet truly lived out her life as she should. Although Gabriella was overjoyed at this thought, her mother was less than thrilled. She had no place to turn to and no way to support herself. She begged Hoseia to allow her to remain under his command...and he agreed. Gabriella, however, was free to leave and her mother understood the importance behind this freedom she was granted... She allowed Gabriella to go with her blessings.
At nineteen years of age, Gabriella had relocated to Couruscant and taken up work as a dancer at a local cantina as a form of entertainment. Her exotic and alluring beauty drew the attention of many and soon she gained the stage-name "The Wild Rose" by those that were drawn to this untamed mystery. A rose indeed... Beautiful and enchanting...but not without her thorns should one dare to get too close. The pay was scarce and her living quarters were bare...but for the first time in her life she was doing exactly as she pleased without having to worry over the thoughts of others.
Then on one fated day, Gabriella was approached by a man of the name of James Hildrex and asked to join on his staff at the newly opening cantina. He had seen her perform on several occaisions and had enjoyed her friendly and bright personality, knowing she would be a wonderful asset to the cafe. Gabriella immediately accepted... It would get her out of the slime-hole she'd been working in and the pay would be far better than that she already received.
Now most of her time is spent in that beautiful cantina, serving others in a generous and hospitable manner...always making sure everyone felt welcome into this place that was like her second home. People would come to the cafe and ask for her by name and she was always more than happy to serve. This was what she was meant to do and this was who she was meant to be. She was free and independent...her life was her own and she had no intentions of soon giving it over to another.
However, as she speaks with the many different spacers that come through the cantina, she has also picked up on quite a few things. Bounty hunters...smugglers..."riff raff"... All with an interesting story to be told and understood. She has become a friend to some...and even something of an accomplice to others. What is one such as her to know of the "low life" that comes to call? Perhaps more than you would think...
...but for that you will simply have to ask her.
