Memories
Poetry
Main
Special note: This is one of the few poems I've written that has been seen by a large number of people. It was actually printed in the school yearbook my senior year.

Through the laughter, the crazy joke-filled days, the triumphant relief, youve
Stayed by my side.
Through the tough classes, the hard times, the whole difficult journey, youve
Been there.
Through the passing years, youve remained.

And now, I walk quietly through the cluttered hallways,
And now, this place is full of people just like me three years ago.
And now, right now, they do not realize what I have just discovered.

Because they cannot know.
Because they have to find it on their own path, on their own time.
Because it isnt real until you reach this final year, this final chance to
Be a child.

Will you stay by my side after I walk forward to get my diploma?
Will you be there when I pack up the empty cardboard boxes and
Leave the people Ive lived with for seventeen years?
Will you remain with me as I make my way into this
Big, independent world I must face?

I know what will happen.
I know you have your own path to tread upon.
I know you are still my friend.

The memories will stay.
The memories will always be there.
The memories will always remain.
