A Newspaper Clipping
S. Cat Sept 07/03

It's not a treasured heirloom
Or something worth a lot
On old and tattered paper
Twas written deep in thought

While visiting with my Nana
We browsed the daily news
She pointed out this article
Told me to heed these views

Such a dear and gentle lady
Always one to lend a hand
These dearly held words
Now I shout across the land.

The Newspaper Article

I take no thought of my neighbour's birth
Or the way he says his prayers
I grant him everyman's place on earth
If his game is on the square

If his game is straight, I call him mate
If it's crooked, I drop him flat
For each man born, Is as good as I
And a king is no more, than that.
