True, they *were* dragon wings, but her old ones had been silver and the feathers had been very small, almost like soft scales. These new ones... the feathers were so soft and... and... well, *fluffy* to the touch... she thought. Shaking her head slightly, the newly-born chel'drakon [1] turned her attention to her newborn children. She couldn't help the smile that flitted over her face, and she ran her fingertips gently over her daughter's sleeping face. "What do you dream, Sterling Silver?" Kara asked in her native tongue, the smile softening her features. Generally, only four or five people ever saw her as she was right now-- gentle, loving, completely focused on someone other than herself. Those five also knew not to mention it once the moment had passed; Nai had a lifetime of experience to know that, but Imati and the others had learned the hard way. [2] The infant girl didn't answer, of course, and Kara laughed softly, humming a lullaby that her mother Li'Nara had sung for her when she was a baby. A soft sound to her left drew her attention to her and Ryuu's son. "Sontoreni, Ayasha-niya," she crooned, scooping up the sleepy little blond and nuzzling him gently. The green-eyed boy laughed and tugged at his mother's short blond tresses, completely awake now. "Ow! Careful, little one, my hair doesn't come out," Kara said gently, shifting the infant so that he wasn't pulling on her bangs anymore. He giggled and curled up on her shoulder, green eyes wide and attentive. The dragoness felt a pang in her heart; they still had been unable to locate Ryuu... and their son had his eyes.... "Come on, Ayasha, my little angel, [3]" she said, smiling slightly, "let's find you something to eat." The boy laughed slightly and hugged Kara's neck. In spite of herself, Kara smiled once more. she thought, determination taking root in her mind. She left the thought incomplete. Right now, her son needed her. But she did not forget, and her thoughts continued to wander where they would. [4] OWARI ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ [1] Drakon Nai is the word for dragon in Kara's language. Chel'no'ka means angel, and chel'drakon literally means dragon angel. [2] Never, EVER tell Kara that she's a sweetheart. She'll kick your ass. [3] Ayasha means angel in Imati's tongue. [4] Lifted from a song... think it's called "I Think About Elvis" and I forget who sings it.
