SofaPMan: ranting?... i'm wonderful
Atheist142: yes, one of my friends questioned my morality, so I wrote
this long, ranting email to her and now I'm in a very ranting mood.
SofaPMan: how can you have morals... if you don't have
religion?
Atheist142: What do you mean?
Atheist142: actually, that's just what she asked....
SofaPMan: well... most morals come from the Christian
religion right?
Atheist142: no.
Atheist142: The Christian religion hasn't been around all that long,
people had morals before that right?
SofaPMan: okay, let me refrase that... most morals come
from the bible right?
SofaPMan: or from any religious writing?
Atheist142: there wasn't always written religion, and when there was it
wasn't always Christian
SofaPMan: thats what i'm saying though, any religion...
isn't that where morals come from?
Atheist142: I think people made both religion and morals, but that's
just IMHO.
SofaPMan: IMHO?
Atheist142: I have my own set, and they're very strong, and I don't
have a theeat of hellfire over my head. (In My Humble Opinion)
SofaPMan: oh... well then why do you live and stick with
morals?
SofaPMan: if this life is all we got, why don't you just have
fun, and do whatever you want?
Atheist142: I don't want to ruin anyone else's life either, and if I didn't
have morals my life wouldn't be that great either.
Atheist142: Like if I lied all the time, I'd have no friends.
SofaPMan: true
SofaPMan: i didn't ask this yesterday, but are you a guy or
girl?
Atheist142: a girl
SofaPMan: thats what i figured
Atheist142: really? How?
SofaPMan: i dont' know, just by the way you responded to
my questions... i don't know, for some reason i jsut
pictured a girl
Atheist142: :-) psychic powers too
SofaPMan: nope, i don't think so
Atheist142: I know, j/k
SofaPMan: i know you were
Atheist142: okies cool
SofaPMan: so why were you a christian?
Atheist142: I was raised that way.
Atheist142: I still go to choir every Sunday, they're nice people and it's
a nice community
SofaPMan: oh... what does your mom think of you being an
athiest... you said she was a christian
Atheist142: She's kind of a new-age Christian, so she think's I'll "find
my path". My grandparents were the ones who raised me Methodist.
SofaPMan: oh... hey i'm sorry, but i gtg
