Atheist142: I don't see any reason to be otherwose
Atheist142: otherwise
Atheist142: (darn it, I cannot spell tonight :-P)
KTex4u: seriously?
Atheist142: yeeah
KTex4u: me neither! LOL
KTex4u: me neither was meant for the spelling
KTex4u: so you don't believe that there's a good god out there?
Atheist142: not that I know of, no
KTex4u: what about "God" like the One worshipped in Christianity you
know like Jesus and the Holy Spirit ???
Atheist142: nah
KTex4u: why not?
Atheist142: 'cause I don't see any good reason to
KTex4u: well I do
Atheist142: that is cool
KTex4u: I think it's awesome :-) I always wanted to go to Heaven :-)
Atheist142: that is cool then
KTex4u: you know about Christian stuff?
Atheist142: yeah, I was raised a Christian
KTex4u: but that doesn't make you one does it :-)
Atheist142: I know about the major branches (like Methodism,
Catholicism, etc.)... and no, it doesn't :-)
KTex4u: I completely understand...I was raised Christian also...but I
made my own choice to be one
Atheist142: that is cool
KTex4u: I guess it's cool...just hard sometimes ya know?
Atheist142: yeah
Atheist142: eh, it's hard whatever your religion is :-)
Atheist142: (or lack thereof)
KTex4u: I suppose you're right--they are all pretty hard---but really it's
not so hard here because it's not about rules and things
Atheist142: whatcha mean?
KTex4u: well some Christians have it all wrong--it's all about Jesus!
Atheist142: ah.
KTex4u: I mean...some Christians act like they aren't---and make it hard
for ppl to see that being a Christian is living through the grace and mercy
that He extends to everyone
Atheist142: ah, soy
KTex4u: soy? lol
Atheist142: hehehe, kind of like "oh I see"
KTex4u: never heard of that! that's neat!
Atheist142: I am just unique :-)
Atheist142: sorry bout that, my computer disconnected me
KTex4u: mine does it all the stinkin' time!
Atheist142: yeah, really frustrating. :-)
KTex4u: it kind of makes me mad, but oh well!
[Snip of normal conversation.]
KTex4u: I believe what you said about morality
Atheist142: what did I say? :-)
KTex4u: that you can be moral and not have a "god" or some punishment
hanging over your head
Atheist142: very cool
Atheist142: I know many people who do not think that.
KTex4u: well I think it's true
KTex4u: well I'm different than many other Christians
Atheist142: spiffy
KTex4u: LOL
KTex4u: did you ever post what was wrong w/the Christian religion?
Atheist142: hmm... just generally not backed up by proof
KTex4u: interesting
Atheist142: some of the bible's morality I don't like either
Atheist142: like there's a lot of violence.
Atheist142: eh, i suppose it's not for everyone
KTex4u: there is tons of violence you're right
KTex4u: but that doesn't justify the violence though
Atheist142: to some people, it does
KTex4u: well, violence shouldn't be justified...if you justify it in terms of
the Bible...then they're twisting the words around or something
Atheist142: eh, a lot of people saw "thou shalt not suffer a witch to
live" and other similar verses and went out and killed witches
Atheist142: It's just not something I'd have my kids read (if I had
kids)
KTex4u: is that from the NT or the OT?
Atheist142: probably OT
Atheist142: that's another thing that bugs me...
KTex4u: what?
KTex4u: go on and tell me :-)
Atheist142: a lot of Christians think that the rules in the OT are
somehow nullified by the NT... I think if you're going to accept the
bible, than accept the whole thing :-)
KTex4u: yes accepting the whole thing is true...but I believe that we need
to read it all in the light of Jesus Christ
KTex4u: but I'm not sure, so don't ask me LOL
Atheist142: :-) *shrug* I just think it it's taken any way at all it
shoudl be literally
KTex4u: exactly
KTex4u: I believe it should be taken literally
Atheist142: ah. so homosexuality is an abomination to you?
KTex4u: well, you do have a good point...I'm not sure...if I take it literally
or not....I just read it....and God speaks....I'm thinking now lol
Atheist142: heheh
KTex4u: I guess that it should be taken as both
Atheist142: I dunno... that also bugs me. My best friend/ex
boyfriend is gay
KTex4u: but I'm not too sure on that
KTex4u: I'm no expert
KTex4u: Gay is just a lifestyle...but it is wrong according to scripture
Atheist142: hmm... if you need an expert to understand it, then how
am I sposed to interpret it :-P Yeah. I love gays, though.
Atheist142: If I was a Christian, I'd be ok with gays (and probably
get sent to hell)
KTex4u: well I love gays too! and you wouldn't get sent to hell
Atheist142: *shrug* depends which Christians you agree with, no?
KTex4u: well I never said that I agreed w/many---I try to agree w/the
Bible--and what I know
Atheist142: spiffiness :-)
KTex4u: I'm not one of the Christians who would beat a "sinner" over the
head w/a big stick
KTex4u: because I'm just the same
Atheist142: eh, most Christians don't beat the sinner up... they
crusade to convert the unbelievers :-)
KTex4u: yes, and I think that some of them try too hard to do it on their
own
KTex4u: I hope you don't think that's what I"m doing
KTex4u: I just thought of it as friendly chat
KTex4u: although we disagree, it's not the end of the world or anything
Atheist142: *sings* it's the end of the world as we know it
Atheist142: hehehe nah
Atheist142: I thought it was friendly chat too :-)
KTex4u: I mean, it would be great if I could bring some to Christ, but
that's not the whole point, and I can see where you're coming from :-)
Atheist142: coolcool
KTex4u: I like to be open to everyone usually
KTex4u: but, sometimes atheist and agnostics...they scare me!!! LOL
Atheist142: hehehe, sometimes they scare me too, trust me :-)
KTex4u: haha!
KTex4u: what's this about 2 creations?
Atheist142: the first and second chapters of genesis...
KTex4u: yes I've read them before
Atheist142: if you read them seperately, they read very much like
two seperate creation stories
Atheist142: but most people don't do that.
KTex4u: hmm
KTex4u: I can't really see that but okay :-)
Atheist142: well, like in the first one... *gets out bible*
KTex4u: I have mine out
Atheist142: hang on a sec
KTex4u: alrighty
Atheist142: what version have you?
KTex4u: NIV
Atheist142: alrighty in the first chapter...
KTex4u: k
Atheist142: the Christian god creates man last
Atheist142: or so it would seem from a natural reading.
KTex4u: k
Atheist142: and then in the second chapter...
Atheist142: he creates man out of the dust, then creates everything
else after
KTex4u: can I point out something
Atheist142: sure
KTex4u: Gen. 2:4 read that
Atheist142: yeah... that is the beginning of the second story (from a
natural reading)
KTex4u: natural reading means what?
Atheist142: it seems like it says "seven days blah blah" and then it
starts again with a seperate account, and it starts "this is the
account..."
Atheist142: natural reading: if you read it and don't try to stretch it
to fit the meaning you want it to have
Atheist142: I dunno, I noticed that myself when I was a Christian
KTex4u: I'll finish it for you "of the heavens and the earth when they were
created" italics mine
KTex4u: so simply reading it, I'm thinking that the heavens were already
created
Atheist142: yeah... well, I'm assuming they are not being created as
the author wrote...
Atheist142: :-)
KTex4u: interesting
KTex4u: I hate to end this but I have to get going for a while--maybe I'll
be back on later
Atheist142: :-) k k
KTex4u: nice meeting you and you're a buddy now if that's alright :-)
