From Garden State Parkway Northbound

Coming from southern New Jersey turn off at Exit 105 and follow signs for Route 18 North-New Brunswick. Proceed along Route 18 North past the exit for Route 27 and take the second exit that is marked George Street-Rutgers University. (approximately 2.6 miles from Turnpike). At the top of the exit ramp, bear right onto George Street. Follow George Street to the end, then follow signs for Huntington Street. Proceed onto Huntington Street.(You will know you are on Huntington Street when you see the Rutgers Police Department on the right hand side) Go to first traffic light at the intersection of Huntington Street and College Avenue. Turn left onto College Avenue. Alexander Library is on the left-hand side of the street.

From Garden State Parkway Southbound

Coming from northern New Jersey turn off at Exit 129 for the New Jersey Turnpike and head south. Turn off at Exit 9. After tollbooths, bear to the right; follow signs for Route 18 North - New Brunswick. Proceed along Route 18 North past the exit for Route 27 and take the second exit that is marked George Street-Rutgers University (approximately 2.6 miles from Turnpike). At the top of the exit ramp, bear right onto George Street. Follow George Street to the end, then follow signs for Huntington Street. From Route 287 (North or South)

Turn off at Exit 9 (formerly Exit 5) Bound Brook/Highland Park. Proceed East on River Road toward Highland Park until you reach the fifth traffic light (approximately 3.4 miles) at the intersection of River Road, Metlars Lane and Route 18. Turn right at the traffic light onto Route 18 and cross the Raritan River on the John Lynch Memorial Bridge. Stay in the right lane and take the first exit, which is marked George Street - Rutgers University, New Brunswick, Route 27. At the traffic light at the top of the exit ramp, turn right onto Huntington Street, then turn left at the first traffic light onto College Avenue. The library is on the left-hand side of the street.

Parking

Parking is available in lots #26 and #30, behind the Student Center and Gymnasium. To get to the parking lots, follow the directions to Huntington Street. At the traffic light at College Avenue, go straight. At the next corner, turn left onto Sicard Street. Go straight for 21/2 blocks. The entrance to the parking lots is in the middle of the third block

Brower Commons

To the left of the library as you leave the building, on College Avenue, 1 block toward downtown New Brunswick. The faculty dining hall is open, and serves a cafeteria-style lunch for a moderate cost.

The Student Center

On College Avenue, opposite Brower Commons, the student center houses a variety of fast food options.

The Rutgers Club

To the right as you leave the library, on College Avenue, about 1 block down. Formal dining room. Members only. Service tends to be slow.
