| COME WALK WITH ME DOWN MEMORY LANE WHERE A WONDERFUL COUPLE PLEDGED THEIR LOVE AND BECAME THE BEGINNING OF THIS MURRAY CLAN PEGGY ANDERS WAS THE BRIDE AND JOHN WAS THE MAN IN THE HILLS OF OLE VIRGINIA THEIR LIFE'S SHIP, THEY DECIDE TO SAIL THEY PLEDGED THEIR LOVE TO WALK TOGETHER DOWN LIFE'S TRAIL SEVERAL CHILDREN WERE ADDED TO THEIR HOME TO BLESS A SON NAMED COY WAS THEIR FIRST HAPPINESS THEN THERE TOMMY, AARON, CAMMETT, CHARLIE, ROSS AND JOHN, ONE BOY DIED IN INFANCY SO DEAR GIRLS WERE MATT, CELIA, BENA AND JANE THEY ALL LOVED EACH OTHER AND WORKED TOGETHER WITHOUT A FEAR THEY RAISED A GRANDSON NAMED CLARENCE, CELIA'S BOY WHO'S FATHER DIED BEFORE HE WAS BORN JOHN MURRAY HAD A BLACKSMITH SHOP ON THE FARM PEOPLE CAME FROM FAR AND NEAR FOR HIM TO FIX THEIR PROBLEMS WITHOUT ALARM THEY WOULD BE INVITED TO COME ON UP TO THE HOUSE, IT'S TIME TO EAT WHATEVER THEY HAD, THEY SHARED AND IT WAS A TREAT JOHN MURRAY WOULD ALSO PULL TEETH IF ANYONE SO NEEDED HIM TO DO HE WAS A MAN TO HELP ANYWAY HE COULD LATE OF A NIGHT OR IN EARLY MORNING DEW PEGGY WAS LOVED BY ALL, SHE HELPED NEW MAMAS BRING BABIES INTO THE WORLD WOULD GO DAYTIME OR LATE AT NIGHT WHENEVER SHE RECEIVED THE WORD PEGGY AND JOHN LOVED THE LORD, WOULD READ THAT OLE BIBLE AND PRAYED FOR EVERYONE IN DEED THERE WAS AN OLE FASHION SPRING ON THE OLD HOME PLACE THEY CARRIED THEIR WATER FOR QUITE A LONG TIME ONE DAY IT WAS PIPED IN, THAT HAPPINESS SUBLIME JOHN AND PEGGY LOVED RELATIVES, FAMILY AND FRIENDS WAS SO GLAD TO SEE YA AND HOPED A LONG TIME YOU'D SPEND THEIR MEMORY LINGERS ON, THEIR NO LONGER WITH US HERE ON EARTH, WE FEEL THEY'VE MADE IT TO HEAVEN, WE'VE GOT TO WITH OUR HEAVENLY FATHER SO REAL THEY LEFT SCORES OF GRANDCHILDREN AND GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND GREAT, GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. |

| Opal C. Phelps
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Opal C. Phelps, 86, of New Castle died Friday at Americare Living Center. She has resided in New Castle since 1934 and was a member of the Mount Summit Christian Church. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, AARP, and was very active in the Democratic Party, serving as precinct eight committeeman. She had worked 23 years for Standard Grocery and 12 years for the City of New Castle in the water utility office. She was a volunteer for the Cerebral Palsy Association for more than 20 years. She loved sharing time with her family and friends. She was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Grayson County, Virginia, a daughter, of Robert Aaron and Clara Andrews Murray. She is survived by three sons, Melvin (wife: Ruth) of Mount Summit, and Tom (wife: Merle) and Gerald (wife: Tina) both of New Castle; six grandchildren, Karla (husband: Rod) Jester of Millville, Derick Phelps of Medina, Ohio, Tommy (wife: Stephanie) Phelps and Melissa (husband: Derick) Smith, both of New Castle, Sharon (husband: Bryan) Rayel of Sulphur Springs and Robert (wife: Mindy) Phelps of Plymouth; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Bennett and Betty (husband: Chris) Strunk, both of New Castle; and several niece, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur T. in 1970; two sisters, Faye Land and Lena Green; two brothers, Claude Murray and Robert Murray. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Macer-Hall Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark O'Brien officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. Feb. 18, 2005 |
