GWP Rescue, Inc. A Licensed Shelter/Fosterhome Network based in Kansas German Wirehaired Pointers Rely on Us
The GWP Rescue, Inc. is a not for profit 501(c)3 organization. We are united through our concern for the welfare of German Wirehaired Pointers. We do not have unlimited resources, however we hope to never have to "put a price" on a needy dog's life. We feel that each and every one of these special dogs are worth our efforts, and the needless passing of even one of them is a loss to all of us. All GWP's in need are "our dogs". Many of the dogs we have listed are referrals, you must contact the the listing agent posted in the description. Please help us raise funds by visiting our Online store Cafe Press for GWP Rescue items and shop IGive.com with 594 stores....a portion of your purchase will benefit our cause! We do support other rescues with these funds to help with the care, feeding, vetting of these wires. All donations are tax deductible.

Who We Are
The GWP as a Companion
GWP's are extrmely devoted dogs. When raised in a home with a family, they will become devoted to the entire family, however will sometimes some may attach more strongly to one member of the family. Young GWP's are typically loving and playful, and need supervision around children as they love them so much...they may mow them down. Dogs that have not been raised with children may require strict supervision, and though we do out best to determine these factors in foster home situations, many times the history of the dog is unknown. GWP's make superb companion dogs and pets. In fact, they crave human companionship, doing best in a home where they are permitted a warm close relationship with their family members, thus becoming one themselves. Active homes for the younger dogs is very helpful to fulfill exercise requirements, and to allow the dog to bond while running, camping, or being mentally stimulated with training. They are one sporting breed that does not make a good kennel dog, nor a dog that lives it's life in a backyard with little contact with humans.

Dogs and puppies for adoption in the GWP Rescue, Inc. Network
Bess is an 18 month old female that had a pretty tough time until a rescue Angel came along in Dr. Bob Hemphill and his friend Steve. Bess had pups in the barn, all alone and cared for them as best she could. Dr. Bob provided good food, vet care, and both kept a watchful eye on Bess and her pups. Bess is now in Kansas fostering and waiting for a great home. She is not a hunter, but such a loving companion, quiet, and gentle. Email: [email protected]
