Summary of Dragongard
Dragongard Created during the first age by warring Barbarian hoardes that united under the mighty King Stoneric. Dragongard is a mountainous region that suits the fierce warriors the region produces. Named after the great band of warriors that was said to have kept a ancient Dragon at bay the Dragonguard as they came to be known were said to have been founded by King Stoneric. Eventually the Dragon faded into legend or perhaps as some say slumber. In either case the Dragon has not been heard from in almost 500 years! Dragongard is home to the mighty fortress Helms Deep, located at the very top of the Great Northern Mountains. Many nations have tried to conquer Dragondale and many nations fell at the hands of the armies of Dragondale. Most recently the lands of Dragondale have been expanded by the conquering army of the great Warlord Ironric, called DOOM by many. Lord DOOM layed claim to lands lying to the south east of Dragongard. This claim is hotly contested by the Kingdoms of Blooddale, Darkinor, and their ally in the kingdom of Fardale! Lord Doom has made an uneasy peace with Lord Firegar of Fardale and has even gone so far as establishing an embassy castle deep within the lands of Fardale. Some speak of Lord Dooms new castle as merely an extension of the lands of Dragongard! Dragongard has only to seize the Orcish Badlands to give the kindom an overwhelming front to launch an invasion of the central lands of Murkwood. The Guild of Dark Mages in Darkinor are busy weaving spells to protect their borders and attempting to strengthen their alliance with Fardale! King Stoneric has been succeeded by several Kings since the establishment of Dragongard. All have been by right of succession, highly unusual given the war-like nature of the people of Dragongard! The armies of Dragongard are large, fierce and highly skilled, most are able to function as separate entities for prolonged periods of time. Dragongard relies heavily on the Wide River to protect its eastern flank.
