Strike Fighters Campaign War Story - August 17th, 1964
|
 VMFA-531 Grey Ghosts, Marine Air Squadron. Near Al'Megnah, Kingdom of Dhimar, 1964. Orders: Strike Crane and Dock Area in Mosal, Kingdom of Dhimar. Package: CHEVY. Plane:CHEVY11. Took Chevy11 inbound to Mosal. Loaded with 500lb bombs. Ingress was relatively un-eventful, but things heated up near Mosal. Enemy M-19s in area. Took down 1 enemy Mig before attacking Crane and Dock area. Direct Hits on target, Mission Accomplished. AAA thick in area, plane hit and took wound to leg, not bleeding too badly. Took a run at the mother f'in AAA that shot at me. No go. Took a long extended run west toward enemy airfield to see if i could get another enemy plane. Spotted Another Fresco. Fired at it. Missed.
