Credits
The credit system begins in Senior 1 in all
Manitoba High Schools.
A
credit is a course which has a credit value. Most courses
offered are 1 credit each. Those that have a lesser or greater
value than 1 are specified in this handbook. The minimum required
credits for a High School Diploma is 28.0
Course
Numbering
The
numbering system is made up of three characters, the first
and second being numerals and the third a letter. The first
character represents the grade level, the second, the origin
of development, and the third the level or difficulty or specialization.

i.e. Advanced Placement courses.
Third
Character
- F
Foundation: general educational experience for all students
- G
General: general educational experience for all students
- S
Specialized: learning experiences/ skills leading to further
studies at the post secondary level
- M
Modified: courses for which curriculum has been significantly
modified to take into account students with cognitive delays
- I
Individualized: a program designed for students with special
needs.
