  Prerequisite

A prerequisite is a condition that must/should be met before a course is taken. Two kinds of prerequisites exist:

  • course prerequisites must be met, e.g. Chemistry 30S is a prerequisite for Chemistry 40S
  • mark prerequisites should be met, e.g. A final mark of 60% or better in Pre-Calculus Math 30S is the prerequisite for taking Pre-Calculus Math 40S.
      The purpose of the prerequisite:

The school has the responsibility to set prerequisites in courses for the benefit of students. Prerequisites are not intended to restrict any student's educational program. They are intended to guide the student in wise course selections.
