So what's Mu Pi all about?
Mu Pi is the Phi Theta Kappa Chapter for Harold Washington College and one of the most active clubs on campus.
Phi Theta Kappa (http://www.ptk.org/)  is the International Honor Society for Two-Year Colleges. Phi Theta Kappa is what Phi Beta Kappa is when one transfers to a four-year college. Phi Theta Kappa has four hallmarks which all its members seek to explore.  These hallmarks are Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship.
Scholarship
Mu Pi offers numerous scholarships not only available for Phi Theta Kappa members but also scholarships open to all Harold Washington College students. Numerous transfer scholarships are also offered by four-year schools open  only to Phi Theta Kappa members. A listing of these transfer scholarships is available at the International website.
Leadership
As an active member of Mu Pi, one learns and practices leaderships skills useful for one's future endeavors.
Service
Mu Pi organizes and participates in many community service projects. These projects range from our Annual HIV/AIDS Awareness Week, book exchange,  dollar book sales, blood drives, and fundraising activities.
Fellowship
Meet fellow students who have similar goals as you. Great friendships often are started in the Mu Pi office. If you're stressed out and need some psychotherapy, you can find it in the Phi Theta Kappa office.
Membership Info
Eligibility for Phi Theta Kappa membership requires that applicants have a 3.0 GPA and have completed 12 credit hours at Harold Washington College.
There is a one-time $70 membership fee. If the applicant is unable to pay the membership fee in full, the chapter allows you to pay it in installments or by selling popcorn. 25 cents of every dollar you get selling popcorn goes towards your membership fee. So if you sell $400 of popcorn, your membership fee is paid. Typically, during a day, members can sell $100+ worth of popcorn. You can also write an essay on the current study topic and get a scholarship.
More membership benefits info can be viewed at http://www.ptk.org/.
