"The purpose of the National Society of Pershing Rifles is to develop, to the highest degree possible, outstanding traits of leadership, military science, military baring, and discipline within the framework of a military-oriented, honorary fraternity."
- General John Joseph "Blackjack" Pershing

MU Pershing Rifles is the new upcoming campus organization that instills the very essence of the military lifestyle into MU ROTC cadets as well as average MU students that are interested in the organization. The Pershing Rifle Company is in no way limited to only ROTC cadets, National Guard members, or Reserve Army members. The organization is available to all persons, men and women, that show an interest in military customs and courtesies, tactics, the outdoors, and having a sense of belonging to an elite, highly motivated, capable corps.

The Pershing Rifle Company at MU is also the newest social organization on campus. Not only will you learn about military operations or outdoor survival, but you will also be a part of the social side of The Pershing Rifles. There are numerous social events that will take place throughout the year, such as dining outs (formal military balls), and informal gatherings along with a various array of extracurricular activities that you may take part in such as rifle drill teams, commissioning ceremonies, parades, Veteran's Day ceremonies, cannon crew for the home football games, and color guard for all of MU's sporting events.

If this sounds interesting to you then take the next step and contact the company commander or just come up and talk to anyone you see walking around campus in uniform proudly displaying the gold beret. The Pershing Rifles is oriented toward developing strong leaders for the next generation as well as honing personal skills while developing an understanding and appreciation for the military occupation. The social structure of Pershing Rifles provides individuals with a place to turn to when things are going wrong or when school work seems overwhelming. The organization deeply cares about it members and will only set you up for success in college and in life. Take that step and join us; your brothers and sisters in arms.
