ARAVINDAN PURASKARAM

P.Sheshadri a Bangalore based journalist-cum -filmmaker,
has been selected for the Aravindan Puraskaram for the
best debutante filmmaker of 2000.
Sheshadri gets the award for his Kannada film "Munnudi"
which depicts the widespread exploitation of Muslim
women owing to the "loopholes in the Shariat law".
The Puraskaram carries a cash price of rs 10,000,a
citation and memento which would be presented to
Sheshadri on March 15,the 10th death anniversary
of Aravindan.

"Munnudi" was selected from among a list of seven films,
the others being kattuvannuvilichappol,Kharaksangal,
Man Kolangal,Mazha peyyumbol and sayahnam(Malayalam)
besides Moksha(Hindi).
