Staff of the Four -Part 1-
The Burning Wood had an unmistakable smell that night when Nikiny and Krall traveled together through the deep forest. They were on their way to Karnor�s Castle for the famed Gnarled Staff. Venril Sathir was the current holder of this staff and he wasn�t going to make it easy for the two young wizards. Before they came to the open portal to the DreadLands, their hearts heard the cries of the Griffon. They stopped, and looked at each other. Rage filled Nikiny eyes while Krall looked on in disbelief. Her hands began to glow red, Krall knowing what she was about to do to him ran for his life. When Nikiny�s hands rose over her head, she collapsed. Krall felt his mind fill with words he hadn�t known, was it Gnomish he thought. Nay, it wasn�t. He sensed Nikiny was hurt and ran back to her, he found her lying face down on the forest floor. It began to rain, and pain filled his heart. He grabbed her, and ported them to Thurgadin where the other Griffons were. Krall ran to Doogle�s Drinks, a place were the Griffons visited often of their travels through the dwarf�s city. Nataliee was in the back corner talking with Markk. Krall shouted causing everyone in the bar to stop and become silent. Aristo and Dags were throwing daggers are the chalk circle Everstar drew on the wall. Everstar was sipping ale and looked up when Krall shouted. His heart sank and yelled, �What happened?� Tears filled Krall�s eyes as he placed her lifeless body on a near by table. The Griffons gathered in shock. Nataliee walked to her side and checked her heart. It was silent. She closed her eyes and chanted softly. Whimpering was heard through out the bar as she spoke. Nataliee placed her warm hands on Nikiny body and it began to glow. Nikiny gasped and began to speak in an unknown tongue. Confused, the Griffons looked on with puzzlement. Everstar holding her hand was speaking in elvish, tiring in some small way to communicate to his wife. The Griffons waited patiently as the words flew out of her mouth. Nataliee said, �There�s nothing more I can do for her.� Nikiny�s eyes opened, the unknown words stopped. �Where am I? Who are you all?� spoke Nikiny.
