Spring has most definately arrived in my garden, and along with it, my absolute need to be out there enjoying it.
Two years ago, my front yard was, to say the least, an utter eyesore. Within two years, my husband and I have made a beautiful retreat.
We live in a battleaxe plot, so our front is not exposed to the prying eyes of the street. I might just mention that the front is the same size as a typical suburban block...no acreage here (sigh).
We have now established quite an eyecatching native garden...we look forward to the many years to come as our garden continues
to grow..there's always something to potter with!
But back to my subject matter.....school holidays are only a week away....I have 3 children, 2 of which go to school...Tristan is 8, Eve is 7
and Chloe is 3 next week. Needless to say, with their dad at work 5 days a week, by the time he gets home in the evening, I am usually quite exhausted and its an absolute relief to palm off the responsibility a bit to him.
Now for the scary part, these school holidays, my hubs is jetting off to France for 2 weeks......I am quite certain there is a possibility of me going completely batty!!
In a desperate bid to salvage my ever diminishing sanity, I started thinking of how to kill two birds with one stone. I need to be out in my garden doing something, my kids need to be outside doing something...but what?
They have "nothing to do"....or so they constantly tell me....I decided then and there that we were going to have a farm in a backyard.
Well not so much a farm as it is a working and interactive garden for the entire family!
