| Chapter 1 : Fall in the Rain The morning sky roared with thunder as the rain started to fall from the grayish looking sky. Inside the manor home things were just as bleak, as two voices could be heard shouting at each other. Why then? Rick shouted frustrated with his wife and this argument, which had been going on for the past forty-five minutes. Evelyn just paced around the foyer looking not too happy herself, she hated arguing with her husband but she had a point to this. Because, I want you to, that should be reason enough. She shouted now standing still and placing her hands on her hips. Must this marriage always revolve around what you want? Rick yelled bitterly wanting to bit his tongue after saying that, but he just couldnt hold it in any longer. She glanced at the clock just ignoring his outburst, Im leaving. Rick just threw his hands up in the air giving up, Fine, go leave. Evelyn just looked at him saying quietly, I guess your opinion was too much to ask for on the subject. She picked up her briefcase from off the couch and started to head out the door. Rick turned around and yelled not really expecting her to leave, What is with you? God! Fine just go! Evelyn said nothing but did just that, as Rick tried to go after her only to have the door slam in his face. He slammed his fist on the door in frustration, Evelyn It was useless to go after her in this state. The rest of the day Rick was just miserable and extremely grumpy. His brother in law approached him, and Rick grabbed him by the shirt collar, easily lifting him off the floor. He didnt have the patience to deal with him. What? Jonathan just swallowed hard and stammered at his words nervously, II..jus.just wanted to ask if I could barrow the Beuford tonight. Rick then released Jonathan, Fine. Just dont scratch it. Jonathan looked up at him concerned, after hearing his answer, Are you alright? Rick sat down on the couch and with sarcasm in his voice answered, Couldnt be better. Jonathan sat down on the other end just in case Rick tried to grab him again, could never be too careful. Youre lying. The Englishman replied narrowing his eyes at Rick. What does it matter? It doesnt concern you. Rick spat back not really wanting to tell his brother in law his problem. Jonathan sighed; there was no way he could get through to Rick, Alright then have it, your way. Jonathan said getting up and heading out to the nearest pub. Evelyn worked most of the day keeping herself busy in her little office. On her lunch break, she ate a sandwich and then decided to best vent her problems with Rick in a letter. Opening a low cabinet drawer from her desk, she removed some stationary paper and an ink pen and began to write. |
