Learning of the Past

: : Summary : : It is before the Mummy Returns.  Meela is having troublesome dreams and weird visions.  One day she met Mr. Hafez and things for her began to make sense.  She began her quest for Imhotep and immortality.
Thebes. 1290 B.C

A girl, sitting on an elegant gold bed.  Her body, painted in gold and black designs.  Her hair with gold beads and a little crown with a serpent.  The serpent was in a position that was ready to attack any harm that she could not see.  She moves to her balcony, a beautiful gold balcony with a flacon on the outside with its wings spread.  She passes gold curtains and rests her elbows on the balconys rim.  She begins to think about what she has done with her life.  Why? What did I do to deserve this life?  She yawns and goes back to her room.  She goes to the cleansing room to clean herself from the hot air of Egypt and from her paint.  As the paint ran down the drain, with it went the days horrors and mishaps.  When she was finished, she dried herself and slipped on a plain white cotton dress.  She went to her night table and sat on the gold chair.  She took from the table an alabaster jar of ointment.  On it, it had hieroglyphs.  She took a small amount and rubbed it on her arms and face.  She took a wooden comb and ran it through her hair, twice.  When she was done, she placed it back gently on the table, then took an iron mirror and looked in it.  Before she could actually look at herself, she looked at the decorations.  It was the goddess, Isis.  She was so beautiful, so motherly.  Then she looked at herself in the mirror. She didnt like what she saw.  Before she did anything stupid, with the mirror, she set it down hard on the table.  She heard a knock on the door.

Come in, she said in ancient Egyptian.

A servant came in and asked if anything was needed.

Ni, she replied

Then the servant girl said:

Good night princess Anck-su-namun

The morning sun woke Meela up.  She had a bad nights sleep and had the most bizarre dream.  For all she knew, she was in Egypt but not in ancient times.  It was 1932.  She didnt know what all this meant. She had been having weird dreams for the past 3 weeks, and a few visions too.  She was a normal girl, with a normal life.  She was young and beautiful. She had dreams about life in ancient Egypt and a girl named Anck-su-namun.  The girl had her face, and her body.  But who was Anck-su-namun?  She had never heard of her.  She usually put her dreams in a journal, but today she didnt feel like it.  She had to get up and go to work.  She worked at the museum of antiquities. She was fascinated with ancient Egypt.  Today the curator from the British museum was coming today to pick up some artefacts that some Egyptologist had found on a dig down in Thebes.  She loved Thebes, but now it is called Luxor.  Every chance she got for a vacation or on the weekends she would go there and just wander around, and she would sometimes have visions about what was there in ancient time.  A beautiful pharaohs palace with the little temple and a beautiful garden.

Meela, stop daydreaming. she told herself  You are going to be late to greet Mr. Hafez.

She felt like today, something very special was going to happen.

Meela, you are late, said Mr. Ali, the curator from the museum of antiquities

I am truly very sorry, I didnt sleep very well last night. I

I do not care at this moment, Mr. Hafez is waiting. Come this way

He led her to a room where she had never been before. It was dark and gloomy.  It reminded her of a tomb.  They stopped abruptly and he opened a door.  There was a little room with a few antiquities and a desk.  Beside the desk was Mr. Hafez.  He was a short man, fair in weight and Egyptian himself.  When he turned around and saw Meela he was awe stuck.

It is her, weve found her!!!!!!!! Mr. Hafez exclaimed with great joy.

He went up to Meela and grabbed her arms.  She looked at him with a little bit of fear, but the rest of the emotions were as if she knew what was going to happen.  He saw the look on her face and let her go.

I am sorry if I have frightened you, but you are the women that we have been looking for since 1927, said Mr. Hafez never losing contact with her eyes. Mr. Ali can you please leave us alone to converse, it will be much appreciated.

Yes, of course, said Mr. Ali

He opened the door and left without another word.

I am sorry, but I thought you were here to collect the antiquities, said Meela as she sat down on chair in the corner.

I was here to do that, but now that I have found you, Anck-su-namun

what did you just call me? asked Meela in disbelief. She had dreamt of a girl named Anck-su-namun, but how did he know of her?

Anck-su-namun, that is who you were in ancient times. Replied Mr. Hafez

What do you mean that is who I was in ancient times? said Meela now growing more and more in suspense, as she was eager to hear the truth, but was fearful as well.

You are Anck-su-namun reincarnated, you are the lover of Imhotep.

The physician to pharaoh Djoser? asked Meela

No, the high priest. Said Mr. Hafez now passing around the room. In 1926 he was awaken

What do you mean awakened? asked meela

Well, he was mummified alive because of his love for you or should I say Anck-su-namun. He received the homdai because he and you killed the pharaoh.  You were the pharaohs mistress and you were also to marry him.  Both you and Imhotep killed him for your love.  The your plan was to kill yourself and Imhotep was to resurrect you with the book of the dead, but the plan failed and he was caught by the medjai at Hamunaptra, the city of the dead.

Yes, yes it all makes sense now, said Meela astonished, getting up from her chair.  Two days ago, I had a strange dream of a man carrying a black book with a lock and he was very handsome and mysterious and he was chanting over a womans body, said Meela as she recalled this dream.  I remember! I remember! Imhotep, princess Nefertiri, the pharaoh, I remember everything!!!!!! exclaimed Meela.  But what happens now? she asked.

Well, as you know the year of the Scorpion is coming soon in the Egyptian calendar and the Scorpion king will rise.  We need Imhotep and the bracelet of Anubis to kill the Scorpion king, said Mr. Hafez again never losing contact with her eyes.   With your help and my assistants, we can find the city of the dead, Imhotep and the bracelet of course. said Mr. Hafez with an evil smile on his lips

Of course, said Meela as she suddenly felt a burst of power within her being.  Anything for my dear Imhotep.

Ever since Meela found out that she is Anck-su-namun reincarnated, she has done everything in her power to get ready to find Imhotep and the bracelet of Anubis.  She packed everything in her apartment that she needed, sold her apartment and went to London with Mr. Hafez.

So this is London, said Meela looking out of the window of the taxi.

Yes, I think that you are going to like it here, said Mr. Hafez smiling confidently at Meela.

They arrived at the British museum and Mr. Hafez helped Meela with her luggage.  When they got inside Meela saw all the ancient Egyptian antiquities and it reminded her of Egypt.  Her Egypt.  She soon forgot about her homesickness and followed Mr. Hafez to meet his assistants and trusted men.

Meela I would like you to meet my most trusted man of all, Lock-Nah

Hello, Meela. You are very beautiful, said Lock-nah with a big grin.

Hello and thank you, said Meela.

Lock-nah was not an attractive man, but he did have a very nice physique.  He was tall and very rough.

I am very glad we are going to work together.  I have heard about your reincarnated self, Anck-su-namun. She was very brave for killing herself the way she did. said Lock-nah to Meela.

Yes, but she didnt do it for herself, she did it for the man that she loved, said Meela remembering her past life.

Meela, we have to get started right away, there is no time to waste, said Mr. Hafez

Yes, of course, said Meela.  It was nice to meet you, she said to Lock-nah.

The pleasure is all mine, responded Lock-nah.

He kissed her hand and they went on opposite ways. Meela thought that he was a very charming man.

Come this way, Meela, called Mr. Hafez breaking her train of thoughts.  Meela spent the next week having dreams and visions about where Hamunaptra, the city of the dead, was located.  She saw pillars tumbling in the sand, camels on the lookout for their owners.  She told Mr. Hafez and they were soon on their way back to Egypt to find the city of the dead, the bracelet, and Meelas ancient love, Imhotep.
