: : Summary : : This is the story based on the proposal, marriage and Honeymoon of Rick and Evelyn

~
It was the warm touch of the sun coming through her window, that woke Evelyn from a restful nights sleep. She smiled at the memory of the dreams she had, not nightmares, just dreams of what today would be like. It was still hard for her to believe, that after today she would be married to the man who had stolen her heart. She was happy, more than she had ever been in a long time, but also nervous. Being a proper lady, there were certain things that she had never considered doing, and until now those thoughts had never crossed her mind.

Oh come on, you cant be worried now, this is your wedding day, she said, to reassure herself, as she got out of bed. Before she could start dressing, someone knocked at her door. She pulled on a robe, and guessing it was Jonathan, told him to enter. He came in carrying a trey full of wonderful smelling food.

How about a bite to eat before you start your day. I promised OConnell, I mean Rick, that I would take good care of you, he said, as he set the trey down on her bedside table. Evelyn smiled, she and Rick had parted last night, and would not see one another until they were in the chapel. As she thought about Rick, Jonathan poured her some tea, and handed it to her.

Thank you, she said.

Not a problem. Evy, Im glad you and Rick are getting married. He is a good man, Jonathan said. Evelyn set her tea down, and they hugged.

Thank you Jonathan, to hear you say that means allot to me, she said pulling away from him.

Did he happen to tell you where he is taking me for our Honeymoon? She asked innocently

He did. If I tell you, he said I would live to regret it. With that, he left her to prepare for the day. Evelyn shook her head at his retreat. Hearing her tummy rumble reminded her that she was hungry, so she sat on her bed, took some toast, and after putting some jam on it, ate a bite. She really wasnt hungry, too nervous to be, but at the same time she needed to get something in her stomach. After finishing most of what he brought her, Evelyn went to the bathroom to take a bath, and get ready for her big day. The wedding was at noon, which gave her three hours to get ready.

It was close to noon when Jonathan and Evelyn arrived at the chapel. She held her dress close to her, and when she entered the chapel, she found it decorated with beautiful flowers, which really surprised her.

I had some of my girl friends help decorate, came Jonathans response to her questioning look. She hugged him, doing her best not to cry, then went to the little room in the back to get ready. Her heart was thumping about a mile a minute. Why was she so scared of this? It was just Rick, and since he had proposed to her, she had gotten to know him very well. They had taken allot of night walks around Cairo, telling each other stories of their past, and the dreams they had of their future, as well as dinner dates, and the dancing. All of this had helped her see the man he was, but she was still scared. The thought of them dancing brought a smile to her face. She loved dancing with him, and loved being held in his arms. It was there that she felt safe, and whole. Now she was ready, all except for the veil. Someone knocked on the door, and then Jonathan came in, just standing there, for a moment he thought he was seeing a ghost of their mother.

You remind me so much of our mum, he told her. She came to him, and they hugged.

Youre going to make me cry, she replied, in a shake voice.

Im sorry, but I cant help it, you do look like her you know. Do you need any help? he asked. She nodded and with her guidance, he got the veil in her hair, and draped it over her face. Another knock at the door alerted them that the time was near. A young girl came in.

They are ready, she said, then ran out.

Who was that, Evelyn asked.

Youll see, replied Jonathan as he led her out of the room, toward the front, where they would enter the heart of the chapel. There were two children waiting, both dressed in simple dresses, and each hold a basket of flower petals.

Those are Safias daughters, I decided you needed flower girls for this occasion, Jonathan said. Evelyn just smiled. The small organ in the chapel began to play the wedding march. On Jonathans arm, she entered the chapel, again surprised to find that a few of their closest friends were there to watch the marriage. All along she thought that it would be just the three of them. Evelyn looked down the short isle, and found Rick standing in front of the alter He had on dark suit and a tie, and she found her heart pounding harder.

Come on old mum, your husband awaits you. Jonathan led her the rest of the way down the isle. When they reached the end, Jonathan lifted her veil, and kissed her forehead, then leaned in placing his forehead against hers. For a moment they stayed that way, then they parted ,and Jonathan took her hand in his, and placed it in Ricks. The two went to the alter, where the priest said a prayer for them. Then the vows were said, and rings were placed on their fingers. After the priest said his final prayer, he told Rick he could kiss his bride. Gently, Rick took her into his arms, looking into her eyes, reaching up to wipe the one tear he found running down her cheek, then he kissed her. It was a kiss they both wanted to continue, but they had guests. When they parted, Jonathan let out a whoop, and everyone clapped.

Now before you two go, there is something else we have to do, he told them. He and the other guest filed out, leading them across the street to a little restaurant that was also decorated for the occasion.

You cant have a wedding without a party, explained Jonathan. Close to the front was a table with a beautiful cake on it, and this time Evelyn didnt hold back her tears. She loved her brother for giving her the dream wedding she had always wanted. First they had an after wedding feast, with allot of their friends giving cheers. Then came the cutting of the cake, and then the dance of the new couple.

Is this real, she asked her husband as they danced to the soft music.

I keep having to ask myself that, he admitted, as he lowered his head and took her lips in a kiss that left them wanting more.

When is the honeymoon? she asked still out of breath from that kiss.

We need to get going, Rick said, as the stopped dancing. Jonathan gave the last toast, then drove them to Giza Port where they would catch a ship to take them to their honeymoon spot. While they road in the back of the car, they shared little kisses, and enjoyed being in one anothers arms.

So do I get to know where you are taking me for an entire month and a half? she asked. Rick smiled at her.

The French Riviara, he replied. She kissed him barely able to contain her excitement. She had never been to France before, so this would be a new experience. When they arrived at the port, the men unloaded the bags, and the trunk from the car. Since the ship was already there, and Rick needed help with the luggage, Jonathan was permitted to go on board, to lend a hand. Their suite was large, with a sitting room a private bath, and a bedroom. After setting down what he had brought in, Jonathan gave Evelyn a hug and kiss.

Have fun, he told her

You to. Dont get into too much trouble. He grinned

Who me? Then he turned to Rick.

Take good care of her, he said, all teasing set aside.

Ill treat her like a queen, Rick promised. The two men embraced, then they all walked out to the ramp. Evelyn gave her brother one last hug and kiss, and after he left, they headed to the top deck to watch as the ship left the port.

Should we walk some? he asked her. She nodded, and he took her hand as they toured their home, or what would be home for the next week . He knew she was a little nervous about what would happen when they went back to their suite, and he was in no way going to rush her into things. It was true that they had kissed, and he had slept with her one night when she was having bad dreams, but they had not yet made love, and he knew that was a big step for her. They walked to a small area where food was being served, and had a little snack. Rick ordered them drinks, and both were tickled that they came with little umbrellas in them. The time spent talking and walking helped Evelyn calm down a little, but she was still not ready to retire to their room, and was glad she had someone who cared enough to take her feelings into consideration.
