The Journal

: : Summary : :  A little peek of Evelyn and Rick's diarys'.  And yes, I realize that Rick wouldn't bother himself with writing in a diary, but hey, I am a dork and I want him to!  I also made him kind of sappy and unrealistic, but I guess all I can say it sorry and I hope you like the story anyway.
****Tomorrow is Gabbys first birthday. I cant believe shes already almost a whole year old! It seems like yesterday that I was just meeting her for the first time. She can already walk too! I have a walking daughter!

Lately, Evelyn and I have been discussing whether or not to have more children. Were both aware of how much more work that will be, but Im pretty sure that both of us want to have more children. A father of two. That sounds so strange!

The other day, I was in the living room, just playing with Gabby while Evelyn was taking a bath. I was sitting on the couch with her standing in my lap. We were playing peek-a-boo when all of a sudden she stopped smiling--and burst out crying! I tried to comfort her, but she continued crying, big tears rolling down her pudgy cheeks. Then I heard Jonathan say, Well, jeez, Rick. All I did was walk in here and she started crying! Sorry, partner! I turned around to look at him, and saw that he had a big smear of jam across his cheek! I couldnt stop laughing! When my baby saw me laughing she stopped crying and giggled a little. Jonathan couldnt figure out what it was that was so funny. Apparently though, weve learned that Gabby does not like it when people have jam on their cheeks. It frightens her!

Yesterday I was playing with her again, when Marcus (the dog I gave to Evelyn a few years back) came yipping into the room, nearly knocking Gabby over! That dog is so rowdy sometimes! The only person it really obeys is Jonathan, which is strange enough.

Well, until next time--

-Rick (12-9-28)****

**Honestly, Marcus is not as rowdy as Rick says he is. But he is right about how the only person he obeys is Jonathan. How peculiar!

Like Rick said, weve been talking about having more children. Its a good thing that weve decided to have more, because I think I may be pregnant! Dont worry, Ive already told Rick, I wouldnt write it in this journal first, before telling him the big news! I really hope that I am! Maybe this time well have a boy! And another girl would be absolutely delightful. Imagine that--Rick and Jonathan being the only boys around! Thats just a wonderful thought!

Yesterday was Gabbys birthday. We got her a big stuffed animal of a cow, among other things. Shes always loved cows, and shes always been dreadfully afraid of sheep. How strange!

And for our anniversary Rick gave me huge collection of books based on Ancient Egypt! That man knows me far too well! Im been totally engrossed in them for the past two hours while Rick was taking care of Gabby. Theyre so very interesting. For Ricks gift I gave him a new watch that he absolutely loves! Along with that I gave him the letter I wrote to him the morning after our wedding night. He never knew that I wrote it, and I thought that our first anniversary would be a splendid time to give it to him. Unfortunately, at that time I couldnt find it, or the year after, and only a few days ago I finally found it. I was so excited! I dont know if hes read it yet, but it truly is a letter from my heart.

Well, Gabby is crying and Rick is calling for me--I think Gabby is hungry. Goodbye!
