Western Europe
After meeting my mother and two of her friends in Frankfurt, we took the Romantisches Strasse (Romantic road) south, stopping in Wurzburg, Rothenburg, and Fussen. In Bavaria we saw Schloss (castle) Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein, built by the Bavarian King Ludwig II. Next Munchen, drinking in the Hofbrau Hause, visiting the Glockenspiel. Also a trip to the Dacau Gedenkenstadt (concentration camp museum).

Salzburg I liked, city of Mozart. Vienna, Austria, I managed to see a low-budget one-woman show in a virtually unmarked theater/apartment. I also met a desk attendent at a hotel who had been to Romania, and asked "Ce mai faci?" when I told him in German I had lived there. Lost of museums, too, including a lot of work by Egon Schiene, who you all should check out if you don't know him already. So far all these cities had felt somewhat the same, but of course Venice was like nothing but itself, crumbling and beautiful. Verona, too, pay tribute to the Capulets, and then up into Swiss countryside.

Innsbruck, then St. Moritz, near the Mattehorn. While my mother and her friends took a train ride I rented a mountain bike and spent a wonderful day on misty and muddy trails. Lucern, river full of swas. Back into germany, up through the Schwartzwald, waterfalls of Triberg. Caught the plane from Frankfurt to fly home.
