Trivia
My  Review
1. This  is  the  only  film  that  Nicholson did with director  Rob Reiner.
2. For  his  part  as  Col. Nathan  Jessup, Jack was paid
$5, 000, 000.
3.   Despite  only being in the film for no more than four scenes Nicholson was nominated for his  10th Oscar Nomination in the Catergory of  Best Supporting Actor.  He  lost to Gene Hackman.
4. Nicholson  was  only  in  the  film  for  4 scenes.
5. When  Cruise mimics  Nicholson  at  the end  it  was  unscripted.
Okay  this  is  one  of  the  few  films  that actually  can  stand  without  the presence or talent of Jack Nicholson.  In  my  own  opinion  the  tother  actors  do  a  brilliant  job  of  each  of  there  parts.  But  I  have  to  say  it  that  Tom  Cruise definetely  has  a  deseved  place  in  Hollywood  if  you  at  this  film  onwards  in  his  carreer  and  counting  " Born on the fourth of July " before 1992.

This  film  sees  one  of  Nicholsons  restrained  performances  there  is  no  Nicholson  trademarks  which  we  had  seen  before.  with  his  smiles  and  arched  eyebrows  and  his  over  the  top  manner of delievering dialog. This film shows just how Nicholson can read a certain charcter and he does this perfectly  with Col. Nathan Jessup. The film needs Nicholson for two reasons. The first is he gets asses  on  seats & secondly  he is the only middle aged man I would be scared shitless if he was in cahrge.
