Fun with Mules
No doubt about it, having mules is a great hobby. I have been working with them for several years and enjoy them more every day.

I use my mules for trail riding, wagon drives and old time farming events.

Riding a mule, alone,  down a quiet timber trail is a wonderful way to relax. It is also quite nice to join a group of riders for some equine fellowship. Many a good friendships are forged while setting in a saddle.

Wagon drives are another laid back way of using mules. Rolling down an old roadway or even a dirt path, along with a train of other wagons, is a soothing experience. The pace is slow and the view is usually quite pleasent.

Plow days are a time for  gathering  fellows with teams, and offers a use for their old time farm equipment. Working in a field with an old mule drawn sulky plow or disc, in the company of several other teams, is a feeling hard to describe. It's a lot like playing cowboys and Indians for old men.

Those long ears and big ol sad eyes make these equine an automatic bonding experience. At times they can be stubborn,. However, most often they are protecting themselves, and sometimes even the rider, from danger. It' really hard to beat these critters for all around use and versatility.
