Entry for November 17, 2006 - Um... ![]() So, how many words can you write without having a clear idea where the plot of your novel is going to go in the end? 28,974 and counting! I've got a title now, though, which makes me happy. Part of my problem is that I'm stuck in two places. One is that I'm looking for a way for a God who doesn't really want to materialize in front of a main character to leave irrefutable evidence that he exists. But not in a writing in/on : steamy mirrors, sand, magnetic ABC letters, blood etc. Those things have been done to death. I don't want to use words at all, actually. The other place I'm stuck is that one of the gods in the story is really obscure. It's going to take a long time to research him, if I even can. I'm tempted to have him tell the MCs that "you can't believe everything you read" and leave it at that. Kind of a cop-out, though. Or an opportunity to "rethink" the mythology? I guess I'll keep on trudging towards the 50k mark, and see if I've got anything coherent at the end...well, i's sort of coherent currently, if you ignore the gaps. I did fall behind on the 9th and 10th, which coincidentally is when my site went down. Maybe you didn't notice. It took calling Yahoo three different nights and talking to 8-10 people to get them to fix the problem, but eventually it was restored after six frustrating days. Given how much phone time I logged, I'm surprised I didn't fall farther behind! All caught up now, though. 2006-11-18 15:01:41 GMT
