My mother has come up with a brand new way to make me nervous - she's decided to tame the local population of raccoons. Why? I don't know. I don't understand most of the things she does, so why should this be any different?

As you can see, she's making decent headway in this odd project. The raccoons are already so used to people that they're calm in the face of cameras. (here's a handy hint, when photographing something through a screen door, press the camera up against the screen for the best results). I wonder if taking pictures is considered "condoning" the activity? Apparently suggesting that being bitten could result in rabies is considered "trying to make [her] feel stupid" but that's another subject all together.

A couple of them will take food from her hand, and they're not careful with their teeth, so hence the rabies concern. Knowing her as I do, I can only predict that this is going to end badly. It's just a matter of how: she gets bit, she lets one in the house accidentally, one of the cats gets loose trying to fight with them...Time will tell.

I've always wished she had a hobby to make her happy, but this isn't what I was thinking of.
