Entry for August 31, 2006 - Not So Sweet Dreams ![]() Sometimes I have dreams that are what most people would consider nightmares, but I don't. Why? Because I don't find them scary. On the other hand, some of them are pretty disturbing... but only after the fact. I had one this morning. In the dream there was this house, and I guess it was possessed by evil spirits. Or maybe just evil, it's hard to say. Somehow it was my job to get rid of the evil. And to rescue someone who lost a limb (this someone changed from a strange man to my little brother, oddly). Eventually whoever he was and I decided that the only way we were going to get rid of the evil was to get rid of the house. A reasonable way to do this seemed to be to set it on fire. Fire was not cooperative, however, and everything we tired to light kept blowing out. And at some point a couple adults and two or three little kids disappeared into the house as well. I guess the "he" character and I knew them, since we said hi before they got lost in there. At some point a woman driving her car lost control of it, and drove into the house. Great, we thought, cars burn too, especially considering the gas tank to punctured when she drove through the wall. So with the chick's help (she was surprisingly willing to pitch in) we filled the car with paper and other burnable things, and got the hell out before it really caught on fire. The burning car did the trick. What really disturbed me was when I woke up. The guy and I made no effort at all to find the 4 or 5 people lost in the house before we set in on fire! So dreamMe apparently considered these people to fall under the heading of acceptable losses. Sheesh. Actually, this is usually why I'm sometimes more horrified once the dream is over - my dreaming self cares a whole lot less about other people than my awake self does. I wonder if that's normal... 2006-09-01 01:56:13 GMT
