Author's Note: My first try at XF poetry. Be kind. This poem was inspired by 
the song 'Forgiveness' by the incredible Collective Soul. Please, tell me if 
this is really bad. But ... you know - tell me if it's really good too :)

I haven't forgotten the pain
Words laced with anger

I haven't forgotten the sting
The slap on my cheek

I haven't forgotten her
What you let them do with her innocence

I try to hide the scars of yesterday

I can't pretend to have forgotten
    Though I try

It was all I wanted
    all I needed
Everything I'd dreamed of

Finding the answers
    the truth
The only thing I'd hoped to find

But now that's all gone
    All hope is lost

But I don't need it
    I don't need it
Not anymore

Forgiveness

I needed to forgive you
And through it, forgive myself

But now my seasons are changing
New love rises as the sun
    Never to set

I love you Mom.
    For who you used to be

I love you Dad.
    For who you could have been

But I can't pretend to have forgiven you

And I won't try.
