The Red Fox is a solitary hunter and only socializes with it's own kind during mating season. It's color is rusty red with a white under belly, throat and underside of it's tail. Can grow to 1 meter in length or 3 1/2 feet. This fox lives in forest areas, low shrub covered areas and sometimes near farms. It eats whatever is available. Berries, nuts, rodents, birds and eggs. It also scavenges carcasses left by bears or wolves. The red fox is identified as a major carrier of rabies. Outbreaks are controlled by dropping medical tid-bits from aircraft to inoculate fox populations.
