Depression

Life doesn't promise you anything; not money, happiness, future, nothing.  You get exactly what you put into it and maybe less.  You either roll with the punches or life becomes a daily, difficult struggle instead of the blessing intended and life is a blessing.  Life's many could have been's, individuals unborn, became nothing but part of the soiled bed linens.  Each of us born are a miracle that managed to happen.

Suffering with bouts of periodic depression, depression that runs so deeply inside it's difficult to climb the mountain peaks to overcome is wearing and dangerous.  Laughter, good books, good music, hot cups of herbal teas and as much sunshine as possible are 100% recommended.  If your depression is such you are not able to overcome it, seeing a good doctor is recommended.

Read and memorize favorite quotations handed down thru the ages or remarks from the wise and not so wise of today. These writings can be of great help through personal upsets.  I recommend their wisdom and  have listed some favorites below.

1- "I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know that just to be alive is a grand thing." - Agatha Christie

2- "Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow." - Melody Beattie

3- "Persistence. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan, 'Press on,' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." - Calvin Coolidge

4- "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain

5- "In moments of discouragement, defeat, or even despair, there are always certain things to cling to. Little things usually: remembered laughter, the face of a sleeping child, a tree in the wind—in fact, any reminder of something deeply felt or dearly loved. No man is so poor as not to have many of these small candles. When they are lighted, darkness goes away—and a touch of wonder remains." "These Small Candles" ...tombstone inscription in Britain
